It's been a long while since Aredhel spoke to any of her kin. Murdering your '''husband''' apparently makes family dinners awkward, and she hasn't had too many people who won't ask questions or side eye her about that since the Feanorians' final collapse. She prefers traveling, anyways, with Men or honestly Dwarves - Dwarves have a very finely honed understanding of sarcasm.

But she's heard rumors on the grapevine, of a rather dramatic scene at Ost-in-Edhil, where her cousin Celebrimbor apparently cast out a certain guest in a storm of fury. She's heard a variety of rumors about that guest, and, well. Aredhel has good hunches, and she's got a sense for what's going on. And she knows just what's needed after a bad breakup.

Namely: a large pack of very good wine; provisions and maps for a long trip; a new brace of arrows; and an extremely nice sword Aredhel stole from Maedhros before she could jump off a cliff with it (she usually wields the extremely nice sword that Turgon had forged for her, or preferentially the extremely nice bow the Feanorians gifted to her when she drifted into their crowd; Maedhros's old sword is an extra for special occasions).

Taking revenge on a lying, traitorous girlfriend who was possibly secretly a Maia is probably slightly different logistics than for a lying, traitorous husband who was definitely an elf (until Aredhel got to him, at which point he was a pincushion), but Aredhel is pretty sure they can improvise if needed.

She strolls right past the guards the city has hastily posted - they're overworked, and Aredhel could teach these whelps a few things about stealth - and right up to the headquarters of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, then terrifies the first elf she meets (cowards) into telling her where Celebrimbor is.

Aredhel isn't stupid, and has timed her approach for when her hunch says her cousin is unlikely to be busy, but she still does knock before letting herself in. Once.

People in the trading hub are at least much more welcoming of outsiders - and river villagers with good prospects, especially younger women looking to get away from their families, seem to gravitate here.

And after a while - they spot a girl who does resemble Melkor. She's walking slowly, keeping to the edge of the crowds on the main road, and she looks - not really lost, exactly, but like she doesn't quite fit.

"A model for a new piece of jewelry of my design."

She raises an eyebrow, and looks more thoroughly at Celebrimbor- and flushes a little bit. "Me?"

"You. You have a look that I think will complement it rather nicely."

"I'm flattered, my Lady." (Celebrimbor looks noble enough that everyone seems to be assuming that.)

Smirk.

"I would have you accompany me back to my workshop."

"And how far is this workshop, my Lady?"

"Several days' journey. Will that prove a problem for you?"

"No one would come looking for me... And I'm sure a noble lady like you could provide for my needs..."

"Then who am I to say no to my Lady's request?"

"Excellent. Have you any possessions you wish to gather?"

"Only a few, my Lady."

"Let us be on our way to collect them, then."

She leads the way to a small lodging house - one near the docks, in a fairly sketchy part of town. She seems to have fallen on (or run away into) hard times fairly recently, given she doesn't look quite like she belongs here.

She has very few possessions stored in her room (most of which are camping supplies), and everything she does own can be carried easily by just her.

Clearly Celebrimbor has chosen well.

They can now begin the journey back upriver to the mountains.

She - very respectfully - asks questions of her Lady and her companion (who the woman has definitely noticed resembles her) as they walk. (She's pretty clearly angling for a more permanent position; though her mind seems to go more towards 'a Lady's maid' than what Celebrimbor actually intends.)
