If 9P chooses to leave the group and we want to let him go, does Never Shall We Part allow for that?

Yes, it just allows you to always find each other if you want to. It doesn't force you to always be together.

Thank you.

"So really it could go either way, I'm not sure which I'd prefer."

"That seems like a tough one, yeah. Do you want to check if carrying him works?"

"I should, yes."

Would it be possible for 9P to come as baggage? Lord Pradnakt should be able to carry him.

Hmm, I don't usually think of people as baggage, only someone who couldn't move themselves or substantially influence the world around them, like me could count that way. I don't know if that applies to your friend.

He can shut himself down, that would fulfill those criteria temporarily, would that be enough?

That sounds like it would work as long as he can't turn back on without someone else doing something.

It's possible to do it that way, yes. Thank you for the information.

"So I think this one is mostly your choice, Nine. It'd be nice for Daisy to be able to pick up Force use really quickly, but she's right that it's not that big of a deal to do it more slowly."

"I hadn't even thought of that."

"Oh! Yeah, it's not exactly genetic but the power doesn't say it has to be, just that it has to come from heritage, and Force sensitivity does do that."

"I might want the, ah -"

"Yeah, I figured you would. I'm not sure it'll work that way but it'll be neat to find out. Anyway, Nine, have you figured out what you want?"

"I don't know. I like the idea of being able to find you again if I want to, but I'm not sure it's worth giving up the fast learning power."

"Well, I like it too, so that's what we'll do."

"Okay."

"Okay. So we should - pack, and get Nine whatever upgrades he wants - maybe see if there are any I want, too - and talk about what kind of place we want to go, and then I think we're ready."

It takes a few days - Daisy brings the goat and chickens into town, where the feed store will serve as a shelter for a few days until one of the farming families decides to take them, and gives Marisel the librarian four months' of funding and sets things up at the bank to turn Pradnakt's accounts over to her if Daisy doesn't come back to rescind the order within three months. Pradnakt packs up while she's gone, clothes and MREs for herself and charging equipment and a few key repair tools for the droids and a datapad and the most important bits of their library and a few particularly favored examples of Daisy's calligraphy, and then the three of them (and the notebook) can head into the city and spend a day shopping for upgrades for the droids, and another in a rented workshop installing them. By the end, they've had plenty of time to talk through what kind of place they might like to go to: Daisy wants to go somewhere with a problem they can solve without fighting, and Nine wants to go somewhere that he can explore to figure out what kind of places he wants to live in the long term, and Pradnakt wants to meet new kinds of people and see new kinds of powers, and all of them agree that they'd like to have at least the option to come back to this world someday.

The last evening, Pradnakt takes Daisy up to the roof of the skyscraper they've rented a room in, to watch the sunset; they aren't alone, but she can use the Force to make them unnoticeable and then snuggle up to her. "I love you, you know."

"I know. I love you too." She still doesn't understand the appeal to humans of touch, but it's clear that it makes Pradnakt happy, and she likes that. "Any last minute worries?"

"I don't think so. You've done a good job. For all of us."

"You know, I wouldn't've guessed you wanted this."

"I've always wanted you to have your own thing. I'm glad it includes me, though."

"Of course, Love."

It's a good sunset, and good to watch it together.
