So her watching us might be good but it is not really a sure thing.

"I guess." Seelah shifts her weight uncomfortably. "I dunno, I just have a good feeling. We only need to hold out until the army comes, and we hit the cultists pretty badly today."

What's the army going to do once things are calmed down?

"...drive out all the demons and then go wherever else they're needed, I suppose?"

Well, if it's not 'stick around imposing martial law' I guess that's all to the good... what's to stop more demons from coming through?

"The wardstone does that, usually. Deskari threw it halfway across the city but it's still working, as far as I know, they just need to move it back. Or move the city. I don't know which will be easier exactly. There's never enough soldiers, I don't think they'll be sticking around when not needed."

Oh, how does it work?

"It stuns demons, when they try to travel across it, leaves them on the ground, and if the patrols are on their toes they can go take them down while they're still rolling around in the snow. And some really powerful demons can teleport, but not across the wardstone barrier. There's - gods, I don't know how many. Lots of them, surrounding the whole Wound. Heaven helped us place them, way back when the war started."

That does sound helpful... is it hard to move for reasons besides being big and heavy, could it go on a sledge or something?

"It'd have to be a really big sledge - it's as tall as a two-story house - but I suppose it'd be possible. They have moved them, occasionally, I think. I'm not much of a historian."

Tragically my telekinesis can barely pick up, like, a decent sized book, so I'm fresh out of ways to help with that.

"Yeah, lots of people have Mage Hand but I think it doesn't do that even if they combine their efforts. I figure we'll help rescue people and Irabeth'll figure out what to do about the wardstone."

Are there more rescuing-people tasks you need me on demon detecting duty for?

"I think they don't want to do any more operations today, as we're out of healing and planning to hit the Wardstone at dawn. They'll want your help with that, if you're up for it."

Hopefully in a capacity where I'm not getting stabbed too much, but yeah, I can demon-detect starting at first light.

"If your kind of spellcaster can fight in armor maybe we should get you some, it helps with the getting stabbed."

Armor doesn't interfere with psionics, if that's what you mean, but I'm not very strong.

"I'll poke around and see if there's anything light going spare." She pats Bella, in a friendly way. "You're doing great. Sleep well."

Thanks. You have made this interplanar transit incident more bearable. And survivable.

"Thank you! Hopefully we'll get this all sorted soon and then when the army arrives to save the day it'll have some powerful priests in it who can Plane Shift you right where you're headed."

I hope it helps I can show them a memory out of the place, out of date though it will be.

"I don't know the slightest thing about Plane Shifts, honestly, but I hope so."

Yeah, me either.

Hopefully nothing will prevent her from going to bed ("bed") and sleeping ("having nightmares").

Nothing prevents that! At dawn the clerics will pray for spells and an hour after dawn they'll go after the garrison.

She did think the dawn timing was a little funky but apparently it was merely approximate.

She will accompany them. In armor if there's any for her to be had.
