"That your space mouse?"

Nod nod nod.

"It's, uh, also under arrest, I don't know where but I can tell the cops you asked."

Meelia is confused and sad but can go back to quietly crying if the nurse doesn't have anything else she needs to say.

"If you need more painkillers you can poke that button, you've been on a pretty light dose since you were out. If you need an orange poke that one instead." And the orange leaves.

Meelia is briefly confused about there being a fruit dispensing button, but is too distracted by crying to follow the thought.

There's a window in the door to her hospital room, and she can see the occasional patient or nurse or doctor striding by in this direction or that. The window to the outdoors is open and there's a breeze blowing in.

Meelia cries for quite a while before thinking about how she could gymnastics her way out of the handcuffs. She'd only actually need to break a few fingers and her ankle and she could put most of it back right away and the windows right there and... and she is tired of running. She doesn't actually see what good it would do at this point. She's not giving up - she would never - but she needs friends for this. And her friends are at home.

She glances sort of wistfully at the sleeping Tish. Then she starts crying again.

Tish wakes up after Meelia's been conscious for about an hour. She pulls herself up to a sitting position, rubbing her eyes and patting her hair back into place.

Meelia stops crying, but tears keep coming from her eyes. She is terrified - more terrified than she's been this entire time on Amenta.

Tish looks over at her and notices her eyes are open and gasps a little. "You woke up."

This doesn't require her to say anything which is convenient cause she doesn't think she could say anything right now.

"I was worried you'd sleep for years, you'd get shipped all the way back to your planet and wake up in the middle of nowhere all alone and not even know what happened - are you okay -"

Meelia is having so many emotions at once, talking to this mean person/her friend/stranger/victim. 

"I - I - I wouldn't be alone th-there. "

"If you were asleep they couldn't exactly have asked where to drop you off - why didn't you talk to me, why didn't you wait till morning when I'd slept and talk to me -"

Meelia cries for a bit before taking some deep breaths so she can say things.

"Wouldn't be alone anywhere there, not like here."

"I tried to talk t-to you... It didn't work and-nd so I went to find out answers on my own."

"I'm sorry, I should have stayed up longer, I could have had more coffee, I didn't think you'd run away in the middle of the night and hide and hurt yourself and - I'm sorry -"

"Don't... I don't think it was up to you what I did. Shouldn't need to feel sorry for that..."

"Did you get my note?"

"Note? You left a note? Where?"

"On the pocket everything you gave me."

Sorta small whimper.

"No, we didn't look at your pocket everything besides to see you'd left it behind - if you'd sent an email we would have seen that -"

"Oh. Didn't know that."

"Could you look at it now?"

"I don't have it. The police confiscated it as evidence."

"Oh."

She is confused but doesn't want to talk about the police right now and it doesn't seem that important to talk about them.

"I um. I said I was sorry and that you were very nice and I hoped we could play together again and and that I was sorry for making you sad but somethings are really important.."

Meelia starts crying a little bit again.

"This must have felt very very important to you for you to go to such lengths trying to learn more. I just wish you'd felt like you could afford to go slower and talk to us and learn what was going on before you charged in... now they're going to deport you unless you have a startlingly good explanation for your interviewer, I wouldn't even know what strings to pull there and it wouldn't be fair to Poante either, who works very hard for us."
