Works less well in human society. So not great as a first-line response.

Most humans can't shape illusions.

Doesn't help with noticing it's not real when they're more subtle.

Picking up on the feeling of spiritual power will be more useful than any other skill - some illusions are utterly indistinguishable from reality.

Tsubaki is not entirely sure she really understand what spiritual power feels like.

People sense it in different ways - what did Tsubaki feel when she was looking for that youkai?

A... pressure in the air. A raincloud of the soul.

An emotion?

Yeah.

"Sensing emotions is rare," she says. "You can use that."

"How? Do illusions not have emotions?"

"No, and you'll be able to detect the youkai themselves, and if they mean you harm."

"That would be useful. If I can do it consistently."

"You will learn."

"I guess I will."

Nyanko can't simply turn her emotions on and off - but Tsubaki can close her eyes and try to point towards Nyanko as the enormous cat silently creeps about.

An interesting exercise. That takes her more than a bit to get the hang of.

"Now you need to practice always maintaining that awareness."

"I'll try."

There's a somewhat wicked grin on her face as she stretches. "I'll help."

"I have a bad feeling about this..." she mutters.

Snicker.

"Yep, there it is."

"It'll help your situational awareness."

"I know. It's just gonna suck."
