"You're not seriously proposing to go through a portal some random woman conjures for us, right? You do have a sense of self-preservation, right?"

"Aww, you're no fun."

"Please do not go through a miraculous portal, Hex, I would miss you."

"Alright, alright, but you owe me."

And about then, a pair of women wearing paired scabbards and holsters, wearing long sashes across their clothing that read ASTERISM come into the park.

In the holsters there's some kind of projectile weapon, perhaps some kind of wand, and the scabbards hold recognizable swords.

"Excuse us," says the woman in the lead, who's well over six feet tall and surprisingly muscular. "We're here to investigate a report of an off-world visitor?"

She looks Beryllia over, her gaze going to the spear in her hands.

It's not a spear she's currently pointing at you, just a spear she happens to have!

Visibly-muscular women are not nearly so surprising to her as they might be to people from some other worlds, not that Beryllia knows about those. Beryllia isn't tall but she is strong, not that that means as much as it did before she was Chosen.

"...That is an admirably fast response, well done. Yes, I am from another world. I am Her Deliverance Beryllia the Most High Priestess of Sirenna - ah, Sirenna is the Lady of Liberty, goddess of freedom. Who are you?"

"I'm Officer Valerian of Londinium's Asterism, and I'm here to escort you to the embassy. To make it clear, I'm an officer of the peace, not a diplomat - my job is to see you safely there and make sure there are no incidents along the way."

Valerian looks at the quartet of Hex, Sparrow, Liandra and Heliantha, who are looking at her nervously.

"You four have been talking with her, yes? Can I ask you all to come along for the moment? That is a request, and not an order, to be very clear. We'll probably follow this up with you all regardless if you don't want to come along, you're witnesses, but you don't have to debrief tonight if you don't want to."

"I'm always happy to assist an officer of the peace."

"Aw, stick a cork in it. You know it's not their job to be nice."

"Regardless, I'm curious how this incident is going to go just in general, and I have nothing better to do with my Waterday night. I say we go along."

"This is, like, really big news. At least one of us should contact their conspiracy about it, you know?"

"Oh, don't worry about that. I'm recording everything for posterity as we speak."

Valerian sighs. "That is your right, yes. Though I don't see why you feel such a need to be hostile."

"It's a just in case measure. You know, measure twice cut once..."

"Well, I guess there goes any hope of this not being splashed all over the media. Regardless, not my problem, I'm not being paid to care about that kind of thing. For the moment, let's just get you all over to the embassy proper."

"The one downtown, right?"

"Yes."

"I vote we send Heliantha for snacks and meet up with her again back at the Embassy. This could take a while."

"No objections here."

"Works for me. Sue me, I'm curious."

"I think I'll go with Heliantha. Someone should keep her company."

"Sounds like we have a plan." Sparrow looks over at officer Valerian. "That work for you?"

"Yes, of course. Unless Beryllia objects?"

"I do not. I did not come here with the intention of secrecy. Please do spread the word of my arrival, and the good news of the Word of God. - Ah, perhaps I should prove the existence of miracles first."

What would a world without divine magic even look like? ...No healing, obviously.

"Can you take me to anyone sick or blind or lame or - well, anything - to heal them? If the Gate was not enough proof."

"Anything? Can you cure schizophrenia without side effects?"
