Zzzzzzzz...

Wait. Wait. Important question before nap.

"Decent enough job for my first proper divining work?" she mumbles, sleepily.

"Exceptionally so."

James and Elaine under a tree...

You're repeating yourself, now.

"eeee," she says, pleased, and then:

Yep. Zzzzz.

A little over half an hour later, James gently touches her shoulder.

She jolts awake at the touch, eyes snapping open, as if she wasn't sleeping particularly well or deeply.

"That fucking notebook," she swears, as if that... explains literally anything.

"I'm sorry?"

James could try using his brain for like half a second for a change maybe.

That was rude and uncalled for.

...but okay. "Your intuition?"

"If you could call getting punched in the face by a divination in your sleep an intuition, absolutely," she snaps, then - winces.

"... Sorry. I'm mad at the spooks having no mercy for my already fucked up sleep schedule, not at you."

"Is this the kind where I need to tell the carriage driver to take us back where we came from or the kind where we can tell Captain first?"

"Definitely tell the captain first," she asserts. "I, uh. Think I know where I took the notebook to, now."

"Understood." He'll give her a hand down from the carriage again and they can go inside the Blackthorn Security Agency to find the captain.

She does in fact need this helping hand down, and is more than a little shaky. Still, there's a stubborn glint in her eye.

Dunn is in his office, doing more paperwork. He glances up at the pair of them.

"Everything all right?" he asks, mildly.

"I think I know where I took the Antigonus Family Notebook," she blurts.

Dunn puts his pen down, and interlocks the fingers of his hands.

"Oh? Did one of the walks jostle something in your memory?"

"No. Diviner intuition, followed by a dream. I think it was something about proximity, actually?"

Something clicks. "The place you were looking at earlier...?"

...wait did it seriously take him this long to realise. Goddess.

Not acknowledging that in any way, thank you!

"Yeah. In retrospect I think I will classify it as equal parts Diviner extrasensory knowledge and creepy voices of the occult trying to tempt me into madness. Instead of one or the other."

"That is often how these things go," says their captain, mildly. "Where was this, and why were you in the area?"
