Three little yellowed pages fall out of one of the books she's moving from one place to another. They don't exactly look like they belong in the book.

Oop! See! That's not an appropriate paper stashing location, because of things like that! (Maybe she can talk someone into putting a filing cabinet in here...)

What are these things and where do they go?

"Oh! Those are from Emperor Russell Gustav's lost diary. In order to keep things secret, he used strange symbols he invented to take records." He wipes his glasses. "Many people believe that he did not truly die, but instead became a hidden god, so in the modern day there are cults which revere him and have been holding rituals in his honour. Whenever we encounter those groups, we have a chance to obtain a few original or copied pages from the diary. To this date, no one's been able to decipher the special symbol's true meaning, so the Holy Cathedral permits us to keep copies for research, in case anyone has a breakthrough."

His eyes shine and his smile turns slightly smug. "And I believe I discovered the meaning of a few of those symbols. You'll see my notes on those pages! I believe those symbols are numbers, and perhaps dates! So maybe with historical context, we would be able to match the contents of the diary with what was happening at the time and discover the meanings of the symbols!"

"Hmmm," she hums thoughtfully, flipping carefully through the pages. "The numbers being... these?" She points at the symbols that indeed were what he thought were numbers; the fact that he circled them probably helped. "Yeah, that certainly might help. Well, I'll put them in a little section by themselves, how about, because they're encoded, and - hmmm. I'm not seeing any obvious similarities to any local languages, but..."

Aaaand she's distracted trying to decipher the mysterious text. This was perhaps predictable.

Neil watches her in some amusement.

She stands there, brow furrowed, attempting to decipher the hidden code of Russel's writings, slowly working through one page at a time, like the secrets will just make themselves known if she stares at them long enough....

"Ms. Moretti?" he asks, after it's been... perhaps a bit longer than is reasonable to expect.

She jumps a little.

"Oh! Sorry, I - was trying to compare them to each other to see which symbols came up the most, maybe connect them to common letters or words - each of the symbols are probably words, or perhaps concepts, to explain the density and spacing of them." She smiles a little sheepishly. "But that's probably not news, is it."

He laughs. "Well, you are not the first youth to believe you could decipher the old Emperor's words when no one else could. I speak from experience."

"Ah, these pages are a trap that ensnares many, I see. I'll need to quarantine them in a folder instead of leaving them to be free to do their insidious machinations."

Machinating diary pages safely enfoldered, she returns to being an organizational demon.

She's really quite a hard worker, and is definitely having fun.

A few minutes later James shows up and sticks his head into the lab, mouth already open to say something, but he freezes in place when he catches sight of Elaine.

He slowly turns to look at Old Neil.

"Don't ask me, lad," he chuckles. "I merely suggested she could help me organise this place."

He looks at her again, still a bit frozen.

Down, boy.

Shut up?

Hmmhmmhmm, organization~

She will take a while to even notice James is there. See, it's most efficient if she breaks things up into general piles that she then comes back to organize later, that way she can figure out necessary shelf space, and she feels it's most important to have everything properly color coded so that information can be more quickly found for open cases -

- but she does notice him eventually.

"Oh. Hello," she says, blinking. "Can I help you?"

"Oh, no, I don't think so." He clears his throat. "I was just wondering how you were doing today after yesterday's little stalking incident?"

James just wanted to see her.

Literally shut up.

"Oh. Fine? At some point I'm going to get all of the stuff related to the responsible organization appropriately color coded, and then I will have my translation based vengeance." A normal thing to want and a possible thing to achieve! "But for now I'm just.... uh." She'd say tidying up, but an important part of the organization process is making a gigantic mess, so. ".... Re-organizing?"

"Mmhm, mmhm, makes sense. Well, we figured out where the guy came from—although Old Neil might have told you?"

"I did, yes, Ms. Moretti's been apprised of what we know."

"Yep! They have the dumbest name, and I wish for their complete annihilation based on that alone. ... Also the, you know. Human testing and murders, too."

Back to organizing, which can be done while talking! Wheeee~

"They should fear standing in the way of your organisational skills."
