It's wonderful.

Of course, the next morning Siva is ravenous, having eaten literally nothing and expended a lot of calories the previous day.

One of the perks of being the questionably legal ruler of a medium-sized province is that you can get large meals delivered to your bedroom at your convenience!

That is convenient!

Breakfast!

Mm, breakfast. Breakfast and cuddles?

Both those things!

He assumes Kelora will show up when it is time to leave.

He's right.

Siva manages to keep the smile off her face while they're in view of people who would have awkward questions about it again.

It's astonishing how few questions the people of Tairasante have.

Their means of travel turns out to be a soulbearer. The three of them and their luggage all go onto a wagon and then the soulbearer sits at the front of the wagon and lifts it into the air and flies north.

Huh, okay. ...Windriding is better.

Well, windriding isn't available.

Kelora sits quietly and reads a book.

Seofar seems vaguely ill-at-ease.

Awwwwkward.

Yes. Yes it is.

Still, he can sit next to Siva and hug her, so that's good.

Good plan. She'll just snuggle up and close her eyes and ignore the awkward.

Yeah that's probably for the best. Snuggle.

Snuggle.

Do they have, like, food, because Siva is perfectly happy to spend a large amount of time just snuggling but she's going to get hungry eventually.

Yes, they brought food.

Okay. Siva will eat quickly and then go back to not interacting with the awkwardness.

They land in front of the palace. It's a lovely palace.

Seofar steps out of the wagon and passersby scatter in fear. He shrugs and heads for the palace doors. No one tries to stop him.

Siva sighs a little bit and follows.

"...oh that's not good," he says when they get closer and start seeing obvious fire damage along the path and around the doors, as though someone recently walked up to the palace leaving scorched footprints in the stone and blasted the front doors off their hinges. The doors have been repaired since; their surroundings mostly have not.

"Linsi-kelen Aeleva, do you think?"

"Who else?"

Siva doesn't understand most of the words, but the tone of Seofar's voice isn't hard to understand, and she recognizes the name.

Okay. This'll be fun. Or not. "Pretty impressive fire damage," she mutters.
