Lily sighs. "I'm not - I barely know you."

"Yeah, but you've seen me fucking them and so you - don't trust me - "

"I've fucked them too. I honestly do not care."

"... right." 

He lifts his head a little. "Please don't tell my family. I'll... figure something out to tell them."

"Your secret is safe with me."

He looks over at her for a long moment, then rubs the back of his neck and looks away.

"I... know a few things about bad families."

"It's not like they're bad, they just - don't understand what it's like. They think this is just me being needy or something, or that I've fallen in love with the brothel girl..." 

He shakes his head.

"And you don't have the resources to leave?"

"It's not that simple."

"In my experience... it really is that simple."

"What would you even know about it? You're apprenticed to a fucking witch!"

"I..." 

She crosses her arms. "I had to fight for all of this. I'm still working to repay what I owe. It didn't just... come to me for free."

"And I've been working since I was twelve and I'm still just a trapper."

"You could learn -" 

"Getting lessons from who, with what money?"

"I..." 

She looks down. 

"... I guess I'm lucky, in some ways."

"Yeah. You are."

He sighs.

"... I'm Lily."

"William."

... There isn't really much more to say, is there. 

Lily pulls the hood of her cloak down and settles back against a tree.

William stares up at the stars.

"... I could teach you some of the names of the stars, maybe."

"What would I do with them? I'm no astrologer."
