While Kamryn hesitates about accommodating local expectations, Talance doesn't even catch the implication and swipes away the leaves right there in full view of the market. She quickly replaces the leaves with the leather, maybe, just a little, cheating at human flexibility to do so smoothly.

Well, that settles that. No point in going around back, now.

Kamryn also replaces the leaves with leather, somewhat more competently than Talance.

Settling the new garment into place, she shrugs inwardly. It's more tolerable than her old wolf pelts, at least.

The merchant gives Amira a Look.

"My apologies, they're from very far away and don't really understand the nudity thing."

She curtseys and starts leading the group towards the nobles' quarter.

"The nudity thing is dumb."

Kamryn returns to Yosaphen-Lygos' arm and follows along as they make their way.

Eventually, there's another set of gates, with a pair of more heavily-armored guards.

One of them steps forwards.

"Name and business."

"Amira, journeywitch of House Halentry, and guests. We have urgent news for my patron."

Amira fishes in her cloak again, and comes up with a rune-stamped piece of parchment which she presents to the guard. There's a fairly good sketch of her on it, along with her name.

"Are all three of them necessary?"

"They are a party and do not intend to be split. I vouch for their peaceful intent."

"Why is it necessary to meet this late at night?"

"They intend to depart in the morning; if my lord is to hear the news from its source, it must be conveyed immediately."

The guard nods.and steps back into the guard station, where he stamps three small passes for the group.

"Here are three day passes for your guests. Stick to your business and don't stray."

Amira nods, and pockets her identification and the day passes.

"Onwards."

This is already a far more involved process than Kamryn was imagining, with multiple unnecessary steps.

...she peers suspiciously at Amira. Is all this unnecessary? Or is this rigmarole normal, with Amira doing the best she can?

It's disturbing to think it might be normal.

"Do the people living here like going through all this," she searches for a word, "ritual, every time they need to talk to their leader?"

"Mostly they don't talk to their leaders; there's far too many people to make it possible for everyone to have the time of those in charge. But that's another conversation."

Amira passes a few manor houses, and finally knocks on the door of a moderately-sized one with well-trimmed hedges and an oak tree out front.

A long-eared maid answers the door.

"Hello? - Amira! What are you doing here so late? And... you brought guests?"

"I have urgent business for our lord, Mira. Could you go wake him?"

"I, ah... If it's really that important. What shall I say to him?"

"I have urgent news from the east, with political implications. And impatient guests to see him."

"Alright. Make yourselves at home in the front parlor."

She looks at the knight and the leather-bikinied girls on his arms.

"... And please don't break anything."

Amira leads the group in through a few doors and into a room with a pair of couches.

"... We'll probably have to wait a little while my patron prepares himself to meet. Please be respectful. That means you, Yosaphen. No swearing."

The maid has already vanished off into the house.

"Yeah yeah, I'll let Kamryn do the talking."

She goes over to one of the couches and sprawls out on it, her armored form taking up the entire thing.

"Hey Lygos-"

The armor rattles subtly and negatively.

"Ugh."

Kamryn has additional questions about how apparently these people don't talk to their leader, but.

That can wait. It's going to itch. But it can wait.

"Amira, should we reveal our true identities or speak with your 'noble' as our guises?"
