"Well. That's annoying. Do we need to yell at someone about this?"

"The Watchers and some guys I think were... Elfhimer? I'm pronouncing that wrong. Um, I made a mess in my panic and like trashed a couple of rural gas stations for no fucking reason - for mana actually, I think, on instinct or something - they were the ones chasing me apparently, didn't like the smell of my patron or something. Maybe I can send a polite letter and it'll be fine but I don't actually know what they think of me at the moment." Sigh. "Didn't mean to, exactly."

"I kiiinda want to see if J knows anyone in the Watchers. Ugh."

She starts tapping out an email.

Hey J,

Lenora and I got settled into Arcadia alright, but our dravir housemate is worried because the Watchers and Alfheimr overreacted to her shitty Awakening and she's not sure how to make sure things are cool. D'you maybe have a contact over there who could check on it? She was getting attacked by a bear right when her patron awakened her, instinctively went dragonbeast to deal with the bear, and then the Watchers freaked out about that and 'cause they "didn't like the smell of [her] patron or something". She's sorry about making a mess but she also didn't ask for her patron to give her a drive-by awakening in the middle of a bear attack.

It occurs to her that perhaps she should share this with the class before sending it. She spins it around to show Lenora and Bys.

"Who exactly are you emailing?"

"We both got picked up by the ORC, who are kinda magic cops, because of bad awakenings too. It was really creepy looking back on it. J works there and, like, played really nice I think trying to make up for it, make them look not so bad."

"...Worth a shot I suppose."

Send.

And then she holds out one of her arms offering Bys a hug too.

.....Sure. Awkward hug.

(Lenora ducks out of this one now, and - looks to see if Sable brought a notebook to write down their new schedules or anything.)

Encouraging hug! And then open her purse and pull out a notebook and a pen.

"I'm just writing the new schedules down. It hasn't been hard to find our way so far so that should be fine. They do three month terms, right? Cycles?"

"Yep!"

"About time to split up and check out the clubs, then, I think. We can have lunch together later, see if the restaurants are any good here. I minted some Kisses."

"Wait wait. Familiars. Library together?"

"Familiars. I haven't tried it yet, but from what I read it should be the simplest rank-zero of all. Bundling a zero's worth of mana and trying to spend it on something unspecified is supposed to turn into Find Familiar on its own, even. The only shaping worth adding to it is an intent along the lines of 'I want to find my spirit companion' or something like that. Wanna try it now?"

"Is this... Potentially dangerous?"

"Nnnno? Unless your familiar is somehow made of antimatter? Or deeply and intractably inimical to all life? Which based on what I've read shouldn't ever happen?"

Okay she can do this. Take the mana, but don't form it into a ring and slowly contract it. Just... Search. For something.

"...If I did it right," She says slowly, "I can see why he said my familiar is powerful."

With a soft noise, a black crow appears on Lenora's upraised hand and nuzzles her arm. "Aww, she's cute!"

Close her eyes, li'l ball of mana, toss it in the direction of Spirit Fren, aaaand...

She feels two talons perched atop her head, and a very gentle peck to her forehead. "Caw!"

Sable opens her eyes to see a crow looking down at her from atop her head. "Awww!"

"Crow friends!"

"I'm going out to the park. Mine's big."

She pauses momentarily and blushes slightly, then shakes her head and turns around.

Sable giggles delightedly, "Crow friends!"

And then bounces up to follow curiously, holding out a hand to help Lenora up as she does.

Bys's familiar, forming out of the aether after a long moment of concentration, appears to be... A Griffon. A large beast - lion and eagle combined.

"Oh, you're beautiful..." She smiles softly as she strokes one folded-up wing. "We really are meant to fight. As long as we fight for something, that's alright, I think..."

The Griffon purrs(?), looking curiously towards Lenora and Sable. It has a very big and sharp looking beak.
