Tim's lounging in the approximate center of a painted 50-foot circle. Anyone coming near this circle had better be read in on Tim's buff, Or Else. Nobody has to be right on top of him, but anybody leaving the circle is going to get dropped right away.
"Yeah, I follow," slow breath, "you on social media. Tumblr." This is the other major way she keeps tabs on esper society, aside from databases.
Then, to April, "In a half hour or so...do you want," slow breath, "me to hold onto you like," slow breath, "you are with Aumento?" Can he take it? His power grants superstrength, right?
"I'm gonna end up in a cuddlepile with half the espers in this circle. Which is great, to be clear. The more the merrier."
to April "Wow, did you literally run into somebody compatible when you were in the middle of awakening? That's like, a fiction trope you know."
To Parabola, "I also have a twitter. It's kuroko-official. What's your tumblr?""
"My house fell down and he pulled me out of it! Guess there's more espers going around when your city's getting demolished by worms."
"I'm real dash parabola," slow breath, "on all the sites. Or," slow breath, "real underscore parabola."
"I think she's compatible," slow breath, "with me and Aumento." Slow breath. "Two people!" She has to resist laughing again.
"And this sleepyhead whose name I forget," she says, referring to Jamie who is also in the pile. It's a good pile. Doing great at making it only moderately difficult to stay focused and non-batshit.
Tim's been pulled out of his funk by the implication that someone's a sleepyhead. And for once, it's not him. "That's Jay. Jamie. He's a good guy, he was at my first mixer." He smiles up at Kuroko. "You want a photo of that autograph, right? I can see it from here, you don't have to move. I have my phone, I'm allowed phone privileges in my own superpower pit." He obligingly points his phone towards Kuroko.
Sleepyhead mrps at the sound of his name(s). His eyes squint open and he blinks a couple times at the new new person.
"Oh hi. You were at the mixer! Kuroko, right?"
"That's me, I remember you too!"
She leans forward again so her face can get into the picture.
Oh, Kuroko. Never change. Snap snap snap snap snap. If you're not naturally good at photography, take five photos and surely one of them will be decent. "I think they turned out well, I'll send them to you when you're a little less backlashed, okay?" When it'll hurt her less to visibly not be paying attention to her.
"We'll have to pile espers on you 'til you're done awakening. How'd you get hurt, Kuroko? It doesn't look like a monster injury, unless the monster kicked you in the ankle."
"It was one of those dungeons with really low lighting, and monsters that were jumping people out of the dark. I just stepped in a hole is all. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at myself for being careless."
"Ah, not even a cool story? Sorry. It happens sometimes." To people who can't reinforce their ankles in the split second they realize they're about to roll it, anyhow. "It should heal pretty quickly, I think, did, uh." Tim pronounces the name carefully. "Ji-woo do something to it?"
"Yeah. I think it was a bit complicated so she needed to do something to put it back together."
"Huh." Usually if you're looking at your coworker's legs, it's followed by a talk from HR. But in this case, Tim's checking out Kuroko's ankle in a professional capacity, so that makes it okay. "Yeah, I think it would have been a lot longer, it feels like there was something broken off in there? Must've been nasty to walk on, I'm glad you got out." Shame about the tape, I'd love to see this with my actual eyes, too.
"Hurt like a bitch. I tried to walk for like two seconds and then hollered for help. Luckily I'm always on comms anyway."
Why are you jealous of Parabola, you're being so stupid right now. I wish I could actually understand what I'm thinking.
