Not at all! That's what it's there for, all unwrapped and such.

"They're harder but they're also fun, sometimes. On the other hand, if it is solid orange, I could embroider some leaves..."

"I'd like some leaves, I think those would be neat."  What if he sneaks a leg over and hooks her thigh with his now-bare foot?

This is fine! Actually she will take a moment to settle back in and curl her legs back up with his.

"Solid orange with leaves it is," she nods to herself. That decided, she pulls a normal needle and one of her circular needles, casts on, and starts knitting the first row.

Second leg can get a hook, then!  And he can squeeze her, maybe a little tight.  "That sounds good."  Rest his chin on her and watch her work, a little curiously?  And maybe he absentmindedly starts tapping out Morse code on her stomach.

She keeps knitting for a while, humming a song he probably doesn't know under her breath. Then she pauses.

"...is that Morse code?" The pattern feels a little too deliberate. It's been a while since she learned anything about it, though, so at this point she only knows S and O.

“Er.  Yeah, I practice it just in case.  It probably won’t ever come up, but occasionally you get a weird dungeon that messes with comms.” And it gives me something to do mentally, it’s neat watching her knit but it’s not so neat I can’t get a little restless. “Does it bother you?  I can stop.”

She goes back to knitting.

"No, but can you tell me what you're tapping? Maybe I'll pick more of it up, then."

Then they can spend a while while Tim taps out various words, mostly related to what he's looking at.  So, knitting-related mostly, but occasionally something else in the room that catches their eye.

Towards the end of today, the duly voted-upon comedy gets put on!  It's about a young woman whose dream it is to open a small coffeeshop, who overcomes many hilarious obstacles, strange regulars and stranger employees along the way.  Eventually, her business becomes profitable and she finally accepts that the girl who started chasing her towards the end of the first act actually wanted her all along.

Learning!

The movie very cute, and very silly. Sara laughs in appropriate places and keeps getting distracted from his hat. Luckily she doesn't get so distracted that the basic structure isn't finished by the end of the day.

"I'll have to put the leaves on later," she tells him as she shows the partly finished project off. "You can wear the plain orange hat tomorrow? To see how well it fits and if it's comfortable."

"I'm happy to be a hat model for you!"  In a rare moment of self-restraint, Tim has chosen to NOT knock himself out in the second half quarter of the day.  He's tired but not really sleepy.  Maybe a little sleepy.  But he's functional, and that's what really matters.  "I've gotta get the end-of-day summary from our head nurse, if that's okay with you?"

"Would you like me to come with you?" She tucks knitting supplies back into their bag, though the hat stays out.

"Well, I'm just so tired, I don't think I could get up on my own.  I'll have to be carried everywhere..."  Tim's eyes crinkle with laughter and his tongue pokes out between his lips.  Although with Sara turned around, she might not notice, beyond hearing the laughter in his voice.

"Oh no," she laughs. "How terrible! I guess I'll have to carry you."

In fact, she will have to get to her feet and then lift him up in a bridal carry!

This is a bit more difficult than the piggy-back, but so long as she braces herself properly she can lift him up, and then it's just a matter of holding.

Well, he supposes that if he has to get picked up and carried around by a woman with the durability of earth, he can accept this fate.  Thankfully anyone who works with espers long enough gets used to this sort of thing.  "She's over at the admitting desk, if you wouldn't mind hauling me over there."  Tentative reaching around her neck for extra support?  If she winces or cringes or anything, he can stop.

"Mhm!"

She does not flinch! She does however haul him over there.

Before any patient information is discussed, Clarice needs to confirm with Sara that she's already signed all of the typical partner paperwork and won't violate patient privacy all over the place?

She did, in fact! They both signed a bunch of partnership and privacy papers before she'd arrived in Montpelier for the weekend.

Great, thank you.  It's a pain in the ass but she has to do it with every new partner.  These three are probably fully recovered, pending PT evals next week.  These four are plausibly at or past the halfway mark.  One of them is recovering from pretty significant shoulder trauma and she doesn't even want to try range of motion checks without an ultrasound first, as the surgeon had described it as, quote, "A bowl of spaghetti where someone snapped the strands in half before dumping the spaghetti in".  The last two are recent additions and based on previous examples might need another two weeks before full recovery.

Several minutes of conversation later, Tim's coming to the conclusion that it would be a good idea to rebalance out the load.  Next week he'll only accept one more patient and give Messy Shoulder Guy an extra dose relative to the others.  Sometimes he's secretly glad his power isn't actually good for life and death cases unless he's literally within thirty feet of the injury when it happens, making this kind of decision is already hard enough.

Sara, still carrying Tim, listens to all this with the ear of a person who only sort of knows what's going on.

Once they're done, she tilts her head towards the way they'd come. Back to the pillow?

Grateful nod.  After a moment of consideration, he tentatively lays his head on her neck and shoulder, telegraphing his movements and watching carefully for flinches or signs of rejectiondiscomfort.

Nope, she is fine with this. Back down into the former theater they go!

"Do you want me to sit in your lap again, or beside you?" She asks on their approach.

"Er.  Please don't take this the wrong way, but I need to do something or I'm going to go crazy."  I could really go for a hike right now, if I could do it without gassing out halfway through it.  "Maybe we could finish that chapter?  Unless there's something else you had in mind?"

"I could play more," she agrees, setting him down on the pillow and snuggling up beside him. "Maybe we could go for a short walk afterwards, if your backlash is low enough? We could have dinner somewhere in town."

"Yeah, a walk would be good.  I want to just...run a mile?  But that is not happening right now."  Controller: get.  Othercontroller: get and handed to Sara.  He wriggles his entire right side into her as much as she's going to permit, she's been pretty cuddly and their entire job for the day is to cuddle.

... it is possible that his plan did not factor in issues such as "needing to be able to use controller in his right hand".  This was in retrospect an entirely predictable problem.
