Rebecca's pretty sure this is going to be her FAVORITE. Like, language lab also seems important but this one is going to be neat. There's sheet music on the chalkboard, something in cut time with a bunch of triplets and slurs... she hums it to herself while she walks to what looks to her like a good seat.
"Hey! I... forgot your name, sorry. I'm Rebecca if you forgot too! And also if you didn't."
"No, no, I think you'll find that you can only have a name if I, Valiant Reed, don't remember it," he deadpans.
"Thank you!" He does not point out that he picked it himself but he totally did. "You seem excited for this one."
"Well, I like music and it's much easier to do math that is about music than math that is about... other things or just about itself."
"I mean, probably people who are not music people don't, usually. I didn't get the impression you were a music person when we met before?"
"I'm not but given I've got this class and I know you and Vanya I have a feeling I'm going to be."
"Oh, cool! Music's great and there's lots of singing spells, too." Book? Book! Chapter one is called "note value".
Oh, good, it's something he's already vaguely familiar with and he won't need to immediately beg Rebecca for help.
Lissa is also very excited for this class! She's not a musician, at least not more than anyone else is in school music classes, she thinks? But she's got more interest in this subject, and at least she can kind of recognize what the sheet music is about.
"Hi, I'm Lissa!" she says, waving to her new classmates. "I agree, math that's about something in specific is so much more fun! Do you guys play instruments?"
