"Yes, at least for now."

"Do you have a plan, or just keeping options open?"

"Mostly keeping options open - you'll need some practice to pass as me in any real conversation, but you can establish an alibi for me even without that, if nothing else..."

Berengere nods and fishes a hood out from her bag, donning it. It comes down over her eyes, shrouding her face in shadow.

"Thank you, love."

Quick kiss.

Grin.

"Probably our first stop shouldn't be my apartment, though... I want to figure out if our enemies have found me, first." She hums, thinking, and then puts on her own deep hood.

"Trawling for rumors, then?"

"Especially in the seedier areas."

"I hope you'll be able to protect me."

"I'll keep you safe."

"Lead on, then."

"So I want to stop at All-Saints in the Temple District. There's some helpful people who meet there pretty frequently. It's a pretty close to the gate from the Plaza - and I think that's our best route, especially in the day. The Plaza and the main gates are well patrolled, and while there's less conspicuous routes around the city... I'd expect them to be known about and possibly watched."

"We can blend in with the rest of the traffic."

"And there's a few guards I'm confident of - if they're on shift, I can pass word to them to keep an eye out."

"I didn't have much interaction with the regular guard forces."

"I have plenty - more than a few of them are corrupt, and more than a few have loose tongues, but... I'm good at getting people to think I'm their best friend, or at least on their side. But it isn't impossible for someone to be a sleeper agent, or to trust a sleeper agent, or to take bribes I don't want them to take, or to gossip in the wrong place... Some are properly paranoid, though."

"There's the beggars, too - and they'll have a different view of the city's rhythms. Same potential problems as with the guards, but they're overall more friendly to me - a lot of the ways I keep the peace with the Thieves Guild involve helping the poor - and overall much better at being paranoid."

"The beggars? Really? Huh."

"They pay more attention to the city's dangers than anyone - and most of them are at least familiar with the broader flow of information. And... The Gray Fox protects the poor, and plenty return the favor."

"...The Gray Fox is real?"

She laughs. "Very much so."

"Clearly the Blades need to spend more effort infiltrating the underworld."

"Well, you have me now."
