This will be a very easy class because it is literally about the place he grew up.

Tomonori will never build an enclave. He will never build a wizard tower. It's not smart to plan that far ahead, and anyway, his affinity isn't suited to that kind of work. But he might get to live in one, someday, if he plays his cards right. He doesn't know what cards he'll have, if he graduates, but he knows that this class could be the right way to get good ones.

It is a bit awkward that Lan Zhan is here, for no reason besides that Tomonori was upset. He should just ignore that- it's silly to let feelings get in the way of learning. He will nod at him, if they end up making eye contact during the class, but otherwise he eagerly focuses on the material.

This class is important geopolitics and will serve her well when she graduates. It's a little annoying that it's actually in Mandarin, but that just makes it more authentic.

The first day's material (a series of letters, it looks like, which Tomonori is intensely curious about the origin of) concerns how the enclave formed. Tomonori wonders if Shanghai somehow contributed the letters, or if maybe they don't know that their enclave's history is available to non-Shanghai students. He appreciates having access to secrets, even if they aren't really secret. The assignment is just a simple summary of the events leading up to the founding, including which historical clans were involved from the outset. Tomonori is glad the first assignment is easy, but he hopes they get to more magically interesting things soon.

Lan Wangji already knows all of this so it is very easy to write a summary.

He concentrates on forming all of his characters perfectly.
