Wei Wuxian thinks the school should stop trying to make him broadminded and interested in more things than he currently is. His affinity is corpses. Obviously he's going to be an alchemist. They don't have to tell him about artificing.

Ayako, equally obviously, is going for creative writing. Her affinity is performing and she's been training on that track for years already. But if it wants to throw history of artificing at her (maybe for Wen Ning's sake rather than hers?) she'll learn it, she's learned less obviously useful things before and had them turn out to come in handy.
She's very cheerful this morning and it's only about 70% an act; she finds her and Wen Ning seats far away from the vents, which puts them near Jiang Cheng.
