Last class before lunch. Roman History will have some decent Latin, and perhaps it may deign to give Teresa some early-era tidbits in Etruscan later this semester.

(If it varies what it gives the class. She's pretty sure the Scholomance wouldn't be that cruel to freshmen.)

Looks like this room is laid out in a pair of semicircles with a table at the front. So, lecture, presumably.

She inspects some chairs and takes one she is satisfied is only what it seems to be.

Roman History, good solid common class, no real risks. Room's a pretty safe layout - vents mostly near the front and the center, and no desks near them. He has a cheap shield on his holder and tests a couple desks just to get in the habit.

One of the girls already in the room is... acting like she deserves authority without saying a word. Also, a maleficer, if that aura's right. Yeah, black nails. Stay away? Somehow he doubts that will be easy.

Boy who walked in is observant in a way she likes. She winks at him.

Yeah, not gonna be easy.

Caio finds the room, and chooses a chair (after much dithering) that is closer to Theun than to Teresa.

He nods to the new guy. "Hi. Theun Jansen, I'm going languages track."

Adam does not dither at all! He spots the black fingernails, flags her as "avoid", and picks a seat nearer the people who are not maleficers.

...they walk into the room and... stand just beside the door, looking around at everything and everyone and then taking a seat nearby by themself. It's not like they've made any friends, really. Hyper-vigilance activated, instead.

The room is mostly full, and an old British voice starts talking about how Romans conceptualized their own history, with periodic "re-foundings" of the city, and little distinction made between mythic past and recorded annals. Somehow, the voice both sounds very excited about the subject and is bland to the point of being boring.

(Textbooks will begin to appear on desks as student's attentions wander.)

Caio has an easier time with the textbook than with the lecture, though he tries to keep an ear out for key words.

- why is the voice talking in Japanese they don't know Japanese* -

(*they definitely aren't)

Theun's textbook shows up while he's nearly looking at the spot*. Huh, he thought it was more shy than that**. He writes some notes, but mostly is skimming the textbook, the 'lecturer' is hard to focus on even with alchemical help.

(*no it doesn't)
(**it is more shy than that)
