This is Lan Wangji's second class without Wei Wuxian in it and he thinks he was cursed by a mal.
Mei tries to find three booths near each other for her, Ayako, and Wen Ning.
There are three booths next to each other and Lan Wangji, which Wen Ning finds reassuring. Lan Wangji is very good at stabbing.
His work is in English.
Mei's assignment is ALSO in English. She looks over at Wen Ning's assignment hoping that perhaps it is the same English.
Wen Ning's homework says:
Each of these sentences has one error in them. Find the error:
1. I play bingo right now.
2. He’s from the Hong Kong.
3. I like very much football.
4. He’s from china
5. I am an English estudant.
6. Her name Tanya.
7. Is of the Russia my brother.
8. She like the color blue.
9. My teacher’s name’s James.
10. Her school is on the city center.
He is working on it studiously. He hasn't noticed that Mei is looking.
(Ayako's work is also in English but she has to write paragraphs. This is oppression of people who learned languages primarily for politics reasons.)
For a person who is allegedly monolingual in Mandarin, Wen Ning is filling out his homework correctly at a very quick rate.
Mei's English is not as good as Ayako's, but is also beyond the "find the one error in this short sentence" level, so Wen Ning's worksheet is unfortunately useless to her. She's surprised and a little confused that he's doing so well at it, considering she thought he was supposed to be totally useless?
She can't take the time to figure it out, though, because she has a bunch of sentences she is supposed to put into passive voice and clauses she is supposed to relativize. Uggh.
