Unwelcome but within the range of expected things ghouls might do. Seems like a great target for a Burst of Radiance followed by everybody moving on the archer encampment.

Some of the ghouls drop to the party and those accompanying them! Some of the ghouls keep blindly firing arrows! One of the ghouls starts running back towards the settlement, shouting "Food! Armed food!"

What a charming thing to say. - can he even tell what language that was in and therefore if he should translate.

If he pays close attention he can tell that the ghoul was speaking Hallit.

Great, then probably everybody understood that. Chase time.

Shouting ghoul drops!

The ghouls that were still in the village are converging on their position. These ones don't have bows, but their claws and teeth are sharp and ready.

"Praise Kabriri, our dinner has come to us!"

 "Dibs on that one!"

"Fuck off, you can't call dibs on the best meal every time—"

A side benefit of sending along people to remove diseases is that they have quite a number of channels!

Augh! Stupid useless guard-ghoul, you didn't mention those!

Don't worry, the stupid useless guard-ghoul will stop being a problem very soon.

Presently the visible ghouls are dispatched. A couple people are nursing bites that they'll want to keep an eye on, but with all the positive energy being thrown around there aren't lasting injuries per se.

Great. Time to go around Removing Disease and assessing the stability of the situation longer term.

Once the people who live around here are satisfied that the ghouls are gone, it's not hard to find people willing to talk to them.

"There was a terrible beast from the sky, and it landed in the middle of the Armasse celebrations, and people started dropping dead around it—"

"As it flew off I heard it complaining that its powers weren't working properly, but it's hard to imagine what it would have looked like if it was stronger."

"My grandfather got bit and we locked him in the cellar once he started shaking. Can you check on him? He might still be alive, you know."

"Most of the dead didn't rise right away, but we couldn't bury them, because of all the ghouls that had risen, and I guess they got angry about that..."

"Is my sister's soul going to be okay? She was a good woman, it's not her fault she got turned."

Seelah should be immune to disease by now and should go check on the cellar grandfather. Can Sosiel put together a belated funeral for these folks. As far as he knows people who are involuntarily turned into undead go wherever they were going to go before that happened though he'd be surer if it were a mindless undead. Can they describe the beast in a bit more detail in case Nenio can identify it.

Cellar grandfather is a ghoul. She puts him down and delivers his body to Sosiel.

He would be happy to put together a funeral! He'll gather together as many people as he can to help dig the graves, and they can tell stories about the dead and sing songs in their memory while they lay them to rest.

"It was black and white and red. And it had wings."

"I was close enough to see the teeth and they were horrible, the sharpest fangs I've ever seen, and its tongue was shaped wrong too."

"It looked kind of like a really big really ugly rat that had been partly shaved. Except not a rat, a demon."

"You can tell it was a demon because it had bat wings, angel wings look like birds. I've seen paintings."

"And because it was turning people into ghouls???"

   "That too."

"When it looked in my eyes it felt like it was trying to rip my soul straight out of my body, I was lucky to get away."

"Considering their descriptions and its known abilities it seems probable that it was some variety of nabasu. I am very curious to hear what it meant about its powers functioning incorrectly! Do you think it would be willing to sit for an interview?"

"I would not expect that, no."

"Disappointing. It should be honored to contribute to the field of demonology."

"I think mortals having a better understanding of demonology on the whole ends badly for demons as a class."

"Hmmm. Perhaps it would be willing to cooperate if I offered it the opportunity to consume some of my body parts? My toes, perhaps."

"I really don't think that's a good idea..."

"At least wait until Ember can put them back at no marginal cost."

(Speaking of Ember, she's walking around healing everyone in the village in case it helps with learning how to cure diseases.)

Sigh. "But what if the specimen in question has already been slain?"
