"Somewhat, as a ghost - I can use the Force to manipulate objects, and I can pretend to be holding them. I can hold things normally when possessing someone, though."

"That might confuse things a bit, but we won't know until we try, so." She takes the Resurrection Stone out of an inside pocket and holds it out to Anakin. "Here, take this, try to pretend you're holding it in your hands. Think about the person you lost and turn the stone over three times."

Talking to Elesse ever again hadn't been on her mind this morning. Hadn't even really been a concept five minutes ago.

If she was perfectly the person she wants to be, she could just. Have this conversation. Apologize. Be - normal about it. 

Wisdom is a process, and the first step is asking herself if she is that person yet. 

She's not. 

Pause, then, "It'd be - private, and... She died nearly seventy years ago, and - "

She closes her eyes, centers herself. Soothes over the spike of old pain and regret and fear, acknowledges it enough to identify it, and files it away for later meditation. 

"And I'll need a little bit of time to be ready."

"And... I don't know that she'd want to see me in person, rather than getting my apologies in a message, along with any offers to make things up that I can make. To undo what's gone before, as much as possible."

"Okay." She tucks the stone away again.

"So you just casually offer to reanimate the dead, like it isn't a big deal?"

"Reanimation and calling a shade are different things."

"I suppose the professional necromancers would know."

"Not professional, technically. It's, uh, complicated, but I don't do this for money."

"Would you be able to return her to life?"

"Mmmaybe. Death doesn't like giving people up, really. But things might work a bit differently here, given," she waves vaguely at Anakin, "you."

"I - don't know of any other full ghosts. People do leave impressions behind sometimes, though..."

"If it wouldn't harm her to try - I'd like to have the option open to offer her. I'm willing to compensate you for - everything, of course."

"I've been working on something a lot like resurrection," the local Anathema says, thoughtfully. "And there doesn't seem to be anything like a personified Death objecting. But my method requires I have a store of someone's memories that I put in an empty body, and it should also work for making two copies of someone, so might be meaningfully different."

"Yeah, that doesn't sound like quite the same thing."

Slow nod, as she thinks. 

"...I do want to talk to her." Pause. Then, to Ellie: "And I don't want to - demand you stay longer than you would otherwise."

"We're here until my Anathema gets bored again, pretty much."

"And there's a lot going on here, so I bet that'll take a while - and I want to help you." Glance at her wife. "Dunno if us feeling similar in the Force really means anything, but... If - your person - was half as important to you as Ellie is to me, I want to help."

Soft smile. "Thank you."

"Seems worth doing."

Fay nods. "We don't need repayment - though we'll let you know if we need anything ourselves." Small smile. "Native guides wouldn't go amiss, I suspect."

"Thank you."

Then, glancing to Ellaita and Anathema - the local Anathema: "I do still need to think, and - I suspect I'd prefer to just resurrect her, rather than summon up her ghost, if it's at all possible. We have time, if you two have other questions, or - just to talk." A small smile of her own, and then to the wider room, "Especially since my daughter's going to be home soon unless told otherwise - probably around lunchtime, though it's about breakfast time, now - and it'd probably be polite not to throw too much of the world into upheaval on her."

(Speaking of... She sends a tendril of thought to Lily, updating her on what's happening, and letting her know Anakin will keep her updated.)

"What's this world like?"

Hum. "Large and complicated, and I'm not sure what you'd be comparing it to, but, overall..."

"A large fraction of the galaxy has been explored, and many of the planets within that are part of the galactic community. Travel between planets is fairly quick, and the occasional jump forward in hyperspace technology only improves matters. There are a very large number of species, though humans are the most common by far."

"Right now, there are two major polities in the galaxy, the Empire and the New Republic. They don't control all of the known galaxy, not by a long shot, but they're significantly bigger than anyone else - especially economically and militarily. The Empire and New Republic are in a period of cold war, fighting proxy wars through other, smaller polities. There's... A lot of concern about what will happen if they ever get into open war, and anything that presents too tempting or threatening a military advantage could trigger that. My existence as a ghost - and my past identity - is secret, because of that, since I was a powerful Force user in life, and I became... Somewhat enshrined in both states' founding myths after my death. I can adopt a seeming of life, at least, so I'm able to interact with broader society... But you might want to keep other universes - and your magic - secret at first, just in case either state decides this is worth escalating over."

"...The big concern if they go to war is that both the Empire and New Republic have weapons capable of destroying planets. Neither of them have fired one yet - though the Empire's predecessor used an early version of those weapons to destroy a planet that had been resisting its rule, and you don't build weapons you wouldn't use if you felt you needed to."

"We're currently in one of the smaller polities, traditionally allied with the New Republic, that recently made peace with its Imperial-allied enemy, and both states have been slowly extricating themselves from direct control."

Pause. "...There are a lot of less horrifically depressing and worrying parts of our universe, but - the war's the shadow over everyone, right now."

"Wars tend to do that. Though this is... a lot bigger than what we had."

She nods. "I've been around through most of it - and often very tightly involved - so I can explain particulars, but... There is a lot."

"Where we come from, we only live on one planet. We've sent satellites to other planets in the solar system, but people haven't ever been farther than the moon."
