Life since Voldemort's death at the hands of an angry ex-dead dragon Ellie has been... Kind of surreal. Not more but at least differently than it already was, at least. Not quite so rushed as life was as the war escalated - free, an intense pressure suddenly relieved.

Anathema had prepared herself for her wife's death. It'd been -

Amazing, but unreal, when Ellie returned to her.

So that, and the general unreality of people trying to return to 'normal' life, and the disruptions to the beginning of seventh year, and the charred grounds - the remnants of Dementors, her childhood greatest fear, inevitable and eternal - utterly destroyed and burned to nothing...

Well. She's been trying to keep aware of her wife, her loved ones, but the sheer building awkwardness between Fay and Ellie has slipped under her radar. It's getting pretty undeniable, though, and... There's been awkwardness between them for a bit, Anathema thinks. Even before Ellie's temporary death. It's hurting them now, though, she thinks. Not just vague desires not even articulated to the self, but sources of active pain.

Anathema doesn't like seeing her wife in pain.

The obvious solution is to lock Fay and Ellie in a closet. Hogwarts can help. She solemnly explains to the castle not to let the two out until they actually kiss - properly - or Anathema's convinced to open the door.

It turns out people don't usually randomly walk into closets, so Anathema ends up maneuvering the two into sharing a room at the same time. Gets rid of the door and windows. Shrinks it a bit. Makes sure the only furniture is a very cozy love seat, that Hogwarts knows not to let Fay transfigure into separate seats. Puts a sign where the door used to be that says in big letters 'TALK TO EACH OTHER YOU IDIOTS,' with a little signature at the bottom of 'With love, ~Anathema.'

"Um," she says eloquently. "...I didn't know she was going to do that?"

Fay makes a perfunctory attempt to Transfigure her way out. It doesn't work, of course. She sighs. "I didn't either."

She's not looking at Ellie.

"Well, um."

"Did you have anything you wanted to talk about?"

"I..."

"Not really. Anything I want to talk about, no."

She perches on the edge of the loveseat.

"I guess Anathema thinks otherwise."

"I guess so."

"Is there anything you want to talk about?"

"Umm..."

She pauses, and then, cautiously: "I don't want to - keep you from talking about things that are important to you. I'm willing to listen."

"Would you... sit down, maybe?" She pats the seat next to her and eases back a bit.

She does, not touching Ellie - though the seat's narrow enough that's not trivial - and looking only mildly unsure of herself.

"We haven't, um. You haven't been hugging me as much, since..."

"...Oh."

"I'm sorry, I'm - "

"I'm not mad at you. At all. Ever. I - "

She looks even more uneasy.

"It's - a problem with me, that I need to work on."

"But... what is the problem?"

"I..."

"It's nothing that's your fault. Nothing I can't - handle, and I should just - get over it soon."

"You know... you can talk to me, right? I won't stop- stop loving you."

She is not going to say 'maybe you should' because that would not be productive.

"I love you."

She takes a deep breath. "I - "

"I'm scared it would challenge that. I don't know if that's - rational. But... If you want to hear, and - don't just want to wait for me to get my head in order - I. Can think about how to say it."

"We might not be getting out of here unless you do say it. Bet Anathema will just send food in and stuff."

"I can talk to her about - not sticking us in here."

"Clearly she thinks this is important. And you have been acting weird."

She bites her lip.

"...Alright."

"I - "

She looks away from Ellie. A long pause, then, quietly: "I find you - attractive. In. Ways that're really inappropriate for - the relationship we have. And I had been just. Pushing it out of my mind. But - my ability to do that seems. Reduced. Lately."

She blushes, and bonks her head into Fay's shoulder.

"Faa~aay," she whines.

She's definitely blushing, though it's a bit hard to see clearly with her still refusing to look at Ellie.

"Faa~aay." She giggles. "You have a crush on me!"

Awkward nod. "You don't - "

She swallows a bit.
