They wake up lying on the ground.
Outdoors.
It's a bright, clear day.
Their body feels different.
Who's in front?
Warm, eager curiosity, with a side of playful smirk? Okay feels like it's Sable.
"Yay! Maybe we can fit some kind of short messaging thing into the tacnet and the mask interface, so she can text you even if you're handling different things in different parts of a mission world. I assume the subvocal inputs work just fine for comms for the rest of us."
"Kyoka? Yeah... You're a lot like her, really? She's a lot like you? You're both very punk, I think. And you and she both care a lot about caring. She likes pre-Heroics music, so you might have that in common... She plays pretty much anything with strings, and keyboard, and she has... Such a good singing voice. And she's been teaching Eri how to play guitar and bass, recently."
"Awww yay! She sounds really cool, honestly. A little bit like if you took some of Sable and Hailey's best traits and glued 'em together with a whole bunch of music, and a bunch of sparkle that's all her own."
"Awww, thanks. We honestly feel the flattery's in the other direction, getting compared amazing pro heroes. We're really looking forward to meeting her."
Ruby snuggles warmly. After a moment, she asks, "Do you have any ideas for target practice that don't need you to keep making supplies? Don't wanna take advantage of your Quirk."
"Well, if I make neutrally buoyant targets, you can web them and pull them back in? And, hm, drones would be useful to have anyway... I could probably make a retrieval drone and stick some trackers in the targets, too, just in case. No good if you're planning to go target shooting, but we'll get to that once we've actually made Crescent Rose."
Ruby giggles happily at the confidence in Momo's voice. They will remake her baby eventually. Just a matter of time.
"Yeah, that would work. Probably a variety of sizes, too, apple on up. Only thing they couldn't easily do is moving targets, but maybe the drones can do that?"
"Ooh, and colors! Both because they might be harder or easier to see, and because there can be challenges like 'this time the green ones are enemies and the blue ones are friendlies' or stuff like that!"
"Though I probably shouldn't start on those today; we don't know how much you need in terms of calories."
"Feels like one and a half to two, depending on how much I do that day? Today's been a one and a half day."
"Whereas my Quirk needs are most significantly affected by mass and, to a smaller extent, surface occupied and time spent in-process."
"Well. Two fruits for you, two for me, and one for Kyoka - or reserved until the end of the day - until we can get more trees grown."
She whips down a second fruit, then splits it in half, holding one half out toward Momo. "Would you like the other half of my second?"
"Mhm! I'll be fine, and we can start trying to build a buffer that we cycle through an ice chest or freezer, that way we have spares for emergencies."
It's not a very big freezer - and it's a chest freezer, which complicates deep storage somewhat - but it will certainly suffice for a good number of these persines. She adds a tray to the bottom for them, and starts it off cooling with a bit of dry ice.
