It's well past the worst depths of winter, even here on the north edge of the Worldwound- the temperature ekes its way above freezing occasionally, the days are only short and not miserably short, last night's snowstorm wasn't quite a blizzard. It is, nonetheless, fairly surprising when the patrol on their way to Fort #11 spots three figures in the distance trudging towards them from the north.
"To - hm." He has a Prestidigitation up. He makes a little chess pawn. "If preparing it is like this -" He lets it disappear into nothingness and dull glitter. "Converting it is like that. Letting it go back to what it was made of."
"Huh." She casts her own and creates and disappears a handful of chunky flowers and little geometric solids, eyes closed.
"Create Water. Create Water." The standard irregular roundish blobs a few inches above the surface, just like her previous batches.
"It. It ought be easy, then."
"I've never heard of someone struggling with it but if someone did they wouldn't tell everyone, I wouldn't think. Is anything else about cleric magic troubling you?"
Shrug. "Just as it was before. Create Water." She still can't hang Cure Light Wounds. Or Remove Sickness. Or Comprehend Languages or Endure Elements even though she could practically do the arcane versions in her sleep. Or any of the first-circle cleric spells either of them has heard of.
"Might I watch, the next-" time you have to collapse a spell, except obviously the answer is no because that's going to be in the middle of a fight even if they're both in the same place, and now she can't finish that sentence or start a new one why is her stupid Talking Problem so bad today of all days.
"The next...? If you want to come by when I'm getting my pre-dawn summary report and bring someone who's managed to collect a bump on the head, then I can Cure them then should I have spares."
Oh. Well, that's the obvious answer, isn't it. "Yes. I thank you."
"Create Water." Another blob. "I could bring Cabrera tomorrow morning, if they remain today? And no attacks in the night." She makes a little averting-evil gesture he might or might not recognize.
Nod, and a tiny almost-smile. She fidgets with the new tear in her sleeve.
"Oh! And I summon swords now. I forgot earlier."
"After I threw them, I apologize, I don't conjure swords. One sword. And my knife, it first did itself to that."
"Huh. Suitable for Nethys, I expect." She is less sure how magic fits with Asmodeus's deal but this is very much not the time. "Domain powers- as how some Sarenrites resist fire?"
Nod. "One hears they bring children from fired houses even all out of spells. As She's the Lady of the Sun and it daren't harm Her chosen."
"I've only one myself, and I didn't see it of him, but I believe it. Create Water." She's aiming for a wide flat spread again. "I suppose any here should much more likely be healing."
"Everyone gets two, so they could be both. I have what I believe to be a subdomain each of Law and Good now. I'm not sure what Nethys offers besides the Magic domain, which is a very obvious one."
Shrug. "I've heard Him called only of magic and knowledge. And explosions. But- I think not theologically."
"It- oughtn't be a real domain? And I've not heard ever, um, from a priest, only when one mocks unwise wizards?"
"Well, Knowledge is a real domain now that you mention it, so it would stand to reason for Him to have it."
"Explosions is not to my understanding a magical domain. But Knowledge is, and could be yours - I think the relevant ability is to touch a creature and learn more about it and how it might be fought?"
