Down in the forest, there is a tree.
What's left of one, anyway.
The Nemeton calls another supernatural creature to its town.
The blood that drips onto it forms a circle.
"I don't think their immorality went past their decapitation, fortunately for us. Just echoes."
"You've been learning to master your gift, Lydia, but you might not be safe if one of them tries to linger and possess you."
"Salt the earth around the Nemeton, pour a circle of mountain ash around them, I don't care. I'm going home, because the only threat is if they get to me, and I can leave before that happens."
"How good are you at finding things? I can't use the chimeras' or the Dread Doctors' scents to find their lair."
"I don't have any advantages at tracking beyond being able to move unusually fast."
"We don't know if the Doctors brought their patients to their lair when they interrupted their transplant procedures- if that did happen to all of them- but, if they did, we can use any remaining chimeras to find it, as soon as they read the book."
Something seems off about that boy.
"What is the story with Theo?" she asks Scott.
"He's an old friend. He moved away when we were younger, but he came back when he heard about everything that happened the past year. He'd turned since he left, and he wanted to see if the all rumors were true."
"I think she meant she was worried about why he's upset, not worried for his well-being. What do we really know about him?"
"I think that he is perhaps not as innocent as you would like to believe."
