Down in the forest, there is a tree.
What's left of one, anyway.
The Nemeton calls another supernatural creature to its town.
The blood that drips onto it forms a circle.
"Yeah, some other time. You can get inside, since flying would be kind of suspicious, but you're smaller than a Jeep, so it might be safe. Your call, but I vote driving."
"You haven't said where we're gong yet," she points out. "Driving is acceptable to me."
"We're going to visit a friend of mine. He'll figure out what to do."
Stiles drives a bit more recklessly than he probably should, but they get there intact.
Ellie is indestructible. She would have gotten there intact even if he had not.
Hopefully she can forgive him for not knowing all of her exotic properties.
He parks on the street outside a small, suburban home.
"Alright. I texted everyone before we took off, so hopefully they're all here. We need to come up with a plan."
He walks up to the door.
Before he can knock, the door opens.
"Come inside, they're all waiting in the living room. Hey. Sorry for the inconvenience. We're not really sure how we summoned you so far from home, but hopefully we can figure out what happened and set things straight. I'm Scott."
"Right, and I'm Stiles and I'm leaving."
He heads to the living room.
"Hello Scott. Only one person can summon a daeva, so there would be no 'we' to the matter. And you would have had to be present at the actual circle, so unless you can turn invisible, I highly doubt it was your fault."
"Okay. Who was present that you could see? Do you need anything to eat, drink? Do you need a place to stay? Stiles wasn't super clear on what you could do besides move things."
He leads her further inside, making an abortive gesture to take her coat.
She's not wearing a coat.
"White male, about so tall, short dark hair. Vacant expression. Kept bursting into flames. Technically I need neither eat, drink, nor sleep, and only partake of those activities recreationally."
"Well, we have food and drink if you want it. I...don't know that much about people who burst into flame, but we have an idea of what it could be. Follow me."
He leads her to the living room instead, to join the others.
"So cool. Fairies, werewolves, kitsune...what else are you guys hiding?"
"Fairies are new, actually," she corrects.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Kira, that's Mason. Sorry about all the names, you can probably forget most of them for now, anyway."
"More importantly, what are you planning on doing? Moving things sounds broad, the way Stiles put it, and you're saying someone summoned you here with a circle? As far as we know, no one here knows about summoning- and we know a lot about the supernatural."
All teens. No supervision? The one girl, Lydia, seems competent enough, at least.
"Yes. This seems to be an alternate history to the one I know. I suspect parallel universes or some such. My primary objective must be to determine how and why I was summoned here, and by whom. Until and unless I know that, I cannot be sure of the duration of my stay here. Secondarily," she smiles, "I want to learn about the local magic."
"Most of the magic here isn't stuff we can use, it's just...what we are. The stuff that humans do is different, and none of us- except Stiles, and I guess Mason- can use that. And, uh, about the summoning, our main guess right now is it's one of these new supernatural creature hybrids that keep popping up."
"The chimeras. Pretty dangerous, and we don't know who's making them yet, or why."
"Besides killing people, they're good at that. We met one today, the guy you pulled off me."
"It could be some other supernatural thing, though. There's a lot of us out there, and we mostly don't know about each other, except for when we have regular meetups."
"They're like hybrids, of different things. We think there are some kind of scientists experimenting on how to make new creatures from the ones that are already around."
