Valerica begins to look mildly annoyed when Lace isn't as easily shaken off.

Good. Annoyed opponents make mistakes.

Lace is gonna be so obnoxious.

So obnoxious. Valerica does not like this new friend of her daughter's.

Elana sets their entire half of the arena ablaze.

She barks out a wild laugh, healing herself as fast as she burns - and trying to catch up to Valerica still, of course.

Valerica shrieks.

This is probably as good an opening as Lace will get, as she tries to get out of the fire.

Lace flings herself at Valerica, recklessly, sword slashing, followed up with her fire dagger.

She is hit, and tries to tear Lace's face off in return.

She ducks just enough it's more of a deep scratch through her continuously burning skin, skimming over her eyebrow and temple - slashes at Valerica again, trying to do as much damage as she can as quickly as she can - 

Valerica is on the back foot here, her blows wild and unfocused.

Elana sends a drill of fire straight through her chest.

Lace doesn't lose her focus - doesn't assume Valerica's down and out, keeps close and tries to cut her head off.

Once her head hits the floor, she's pretty definitively dead. Her body crumbles to ash.

Lace gets out of the fire, first, burned skin flaking away as she heals, scratches and gouges closing.

"Is she-"

"She's ash."

Deep breath.

"Good."

"You okay?"

"Yes. It's just- something I've thought about for a long time." She holds up a hand to drain Lace. "Can I?"

She nods, stepping closer. "Of course."

Drain.

She puts out the fire. "Let's get the scroll and go."

"Yeah. This place is creepy."

Valerica presumably dropped the scroll somewhere...

She did. The case has burned to a crisp but the scroll itself is unharmed.

Fireproof paper is not the weirdest thing in this world, so.

She picks up the scroll, careful not to let it unravel, then falls into step with Elana. "Figure we can get back out through the portal?"

"I hope so."
