"Reconsider that idea without backlash before going through with it."

Giggle. "I do think it'd be popular, though."

"Blog rule #1: no posting while backlashed."

Cara nods seriously. "No posting while backlashed."

"I'll have to write the numbers down and sit on 'em until I can post safely but that is so incredibly no big deal."

"You might be able to get away with backlash posting if you have some kind of automated setup that validates your inputs so you can only put in the dungeon ID and the date and time and the portal diameter."

"Bespoke backlash posting app for dungeon hole measurements..."

"I guess, if I'm exclusively making these measurements on the way out of dungeons. But if it's on the way in I'll have to sit on them regardless."

"Not necessarily? They might go up pretty quick. - the thing people give me looks for about taking photos is not that I then have the photos, it's that I spend any amount of time lining up shots while a dungeon is active."

Cara tilts her head. "Don't dungeons usually stay active for a pretty long time?"

"Yes, but I do this with, say, live monsters, before I shoot them, and I sometimes do this while there are victims in there. I don't think espers can afford to be constantly pinching seconds, it causes burnout. I am brisker in the nasty torture dungeons - but I still take pictures there, because those are the most important ones to know more about and we're going to get the least from the victim surveys."

"I would totally have done the victim survey but I'm really glad you didn't have to get me out of a nasty torture dungeon."

Nodnod. She pets Lucy.

Wait, hmm... "Have you thought about getting a GoPro? -and then maybe hiring someone to edit down the footage?"

"I have a wearable camera though it is not specifically a GoPro. The footage is usually pretty janky and doesn't go on the blog for that reason, stills are better quality on basically every axis other than 'does it move', but it does exist and go to people with research interests in it."

Additional Caranodding.

"Automated photography drones will be a thing someday, I'm sure, but we're not there yet."

"Also that sounds like the kind of thing the portal barrier could interfere with."

"Not if they're fully autonomous! Mags knows someone at a lab working on this. IIRC it's years out, but definitely possible - their current vague plan is a kit you bring into dungeon that has camera drones, a battery-swapping setup, and the controlling computer."

"I will probably still have the edge in monster photography but they could cover scenery probably quite well in any dungeon that doesn't hate electronics."

Cara gives Haru a very cheesy grin. "Of course! No machine could replace you."

Then she turns to Lucy. "-an ex. Real classic introvert-nerd girlie; she's one of the smartest people I know, and very sweet once you figure out the ways she shows affection."

"Oh! That sounds like my brother. Except for the ex and girl parts."

D'awww. "Oh neat! I should try befriending your brother. ...If he wants friends, I mean. Introvert or not, Mags was not getting her social needs met when we met, it was very sad. It's nice how much happier she is now." Even if she - they - ugh. whatever.

She resumes petting Lucy's hair.

"I wouldn't say he isn't getting his social needs met, but I also wouldn't say he has, like, reached his friend cap, or anything."

She nods.

"Honestly... Mags calls herself an introvert  and I think that's valid of her and describes how she historically moved through the world, but I think she is - a combination of shy and lacking in, like, lived experience of having good friends? But the way she is when she's relaxed and around friends - I would bet that she'll  be calling herself an extrovert in 5 years."

If they're still talking in oh shut up brain, we talk to Mags pretty regularly, actually,

"Oh yeah, that is not Wilbur. Nobody with latent extrovert potential could survive a childhood with me without manifesting it."
