Book time!  Maybe if he starts at the beginning this will be an acceptable place to start.

....This one seems basically fine to start with.  Julien gets a little suspicious at 'thyself thy foe', and - okay, he's going to flinch and close the book around his finger, and collect himself.  ...While collecting himself he remembers that that's an archaic term for like, being miserly, but he's still going to go to the next one instead of finishing the last few lines.

The next one - has nothing very wrong with it, but is still about aging which is horrific and horrifying.  Skip.

III is interesting to puzzle out the meaning of until the end when it clicks into place for him - are all of these going to be about the impermanence of beauty and children and lineage and death -

The fourth has the not-a-slur again.  He closes the book all the way and rests his head on Haru, eyes closed.

"Do you possibly have, like, loved ones, who should know that you are awakening."

Oh right ughhhhhh.  "Yeah.  You said we should do that in the morning and now it's the morning."

"Time has a way of doing that."

He doesn't want toooooooo though.

"But what if I turn into a beast and eat my mom.  ...Also I don't have my phone here."

"I'm not actually sure how it is most helpful for me to engage with your beast-related thoughts. You don't have her number memorized?"

"It seems fine translate it into 'I will be having terrifying quantities of beast-related thoughts while engaging with this', which is what I mean.  And no, she got a new one like, a bunch of years ago now, maybe almost a decade, but it was after I was old enough for my first cell so I never learned it."

"I suppose that I might for reasons have an unusual number of phone numbers memorized," allows Haru. "...does the Tim Horton's know her number for emergency contact reasons?"

"No, it's one of my apartmentmates," he shakes his head.  "She's not local."

"Do your apartmentmates know how to reach her? Or are you in school or anything?"

"I'm in school when it's not summer.  I don't think they do."  ...Unless one of them remembers her name enough to search on Facebook.  Which Haru could also do... maybe Julien should lie about what her name is - but then he might get caught -

"Where do you go to school? Alternatively, where's your phone?"

"U of T."  Can he avoid obtaining his phone - no, that'll be really suspicious.  "And, at my apartment, probably."

"Have you at least got your address memorized?"

"...I just moved at the end of term."  This is true.  He could probably find it on map, if he wanted?  Hm.

"Is that a no or an evasive wording?"

"I can tell you what numbers are in it, I'm just not literally one hundred percent sure I have them in the right order or whether it's the three or the two that there's two of."

"...how do you get there?"

"I turn left out of the side door of the Tim's, cut through the back and up the little woodchip hill, then go right two and a bit blocks at the next sidewalk."

"What street's it on," Haru says, pulling up a map.

"Ash."

"You wanna look at this street view and point it out?"

"It feels like something bad will happen if I do."  ...He should try to explain.  Maybe he'll be rewarded for it.  "Phones can turn into mirrors really suddenly.  Or - anything -"

"...okay. What color is it, what's the cross-street..." Eventually they will be able to find this house without Julien having to look at the phone, probably, if the constraints are as reported.
