Alarra does not respond to that.

"What are you going to do?"

Zuri turns enough that she can still face him, but is ready to walk away.

"Make sure the child gets to grow up. Somewhere with trees. Then hopefully I can train her. But I'm not staying here. I can't."

"You're leaving the Order?"

She shakes her head. "Just Coruscant. There's...too many ghosts here."

He... doesn't know how to respond to that. Other than 'take me with you'. But he won't say it. He has to find their Masters's murderer.

"I don't know when we'll see each other again."

"I hope we do, Alarra. I-"

Zuri turns her head away, and hates herself for being a coward.

"Goodbye." And she's gone.

Alarra has the sense to wait till she's completely gone before breaking down. He shuts down the bond between them, blocking her out, her pain and suffering which is only magnified with their shared experience.

His emotions run wild, thrashing painfully at his entire being. But - he is a Jedi and he can't face the Council like this. They won't let him go after the Sith. Not like this. He can push them down. For now. Even though they make him stronger, even though his pain is so sharp and hot.

He visits the Council and emplores them to send him after the man that killed his Master.

The Council, while sympathetic, would not grant Alarra's burn for vengeance.

Master Yoda took him aside, and urged patience, and trust in the Force.

Alarra can not contain his rage and pain and wounded heart and he leaves Yoda and the Council without another word.

If they won't help him... he knows someone that can.

As if she had been waiting, her co-ordinates appear on his datapad.

Of course. She always had a sense for these things.

He buys the first decent ship that he finds, hires a less than decent while still licensed pilot - the only one he could pick up on short notice, and is off the planet in less than half a day.

She's waiting for him in a clearing on a tiny, backwater world. She looks nothing like the vibrant, powerful Jedi Duncan used to speak about, but there is something undoubtedly dangerous about the red-haired, drably dressed woman.

There's a white armored figure standing beside her, hands down, but very obviously ready to grab a weapon on a moment's notice.

Alarra stands before them, his weapon still inside the ship. He doesn't deserve to wield a Jedi's blade, not on this journey. Maybe never again.

"Did you feel it?"

For a moment her face hardens-

-but then she opens her arms. "He was the best of them, Ala. Come here."

-- he goes to her and wraps himself around her.

"I wasn't there. I didn't know. Didn't feel it until I was told."

The figure steps back from this display of affection.

Nimel holds him close, and strokes his hair.

"They'd never let you go. Even if you were the only person who could give him the vengeance he deserves. They care more about keeping control of their Jedi."

She pulls away enough from Alarra, to touch her forehead to the stranger's helmet. "Peace, love. He means no harm."

"He's a Jedi." Her voice crackles slightly from the helmets speaker.

She kisses close to the helmet's eyepiece. "But he's come to me, my love. That means he's not like the others."

She takes off her helmet then. If nothing else, she trusts Nimel's judgment.

"Jedi Knight Alarra Tethoss. Welcome to our home."

Alarra has no idea what to make of this.

"Thanks?"
