"Huh.... I thought it would be weirder."
"Mmhm- wait, there's blessing coins, too! We can draw them to learn a bit about the future. We can't do that for people who aren't blessed, though - that's when you get blessings drawn for you just after you're born."
"They tell you things about the future. Very vague things, but still useful to know. If you draw the luck blessing you can expect something good in the next week or two."
"And the first three blessing you draw to a baby tell about their lives. I got Wealth, and I will likely make a lot of money."
"It's pretty cool, but not as cool as crystal magic." He looks over at the two at the other table again, and then slides out of his chair, "Come on, let's go talk to them!"
Sefoni hesitates, looking down at the book, and then reluctantly closes it and follows as well.
"More like a school for kids who are gonna be magic. Most of them aren't actually learning much magic, yet. Tep and me and my sister are the only ones who know any, though Ita and Sefoni can learn the kind we know now, too."
"Cause we're the only kids with that kind of magic," he sighs, a little annoyed to have to explain it all over again so soon. "Everyone else just has twin magic and blessings magic and they'll learn to use crystal magic later."
"We do, yeah," he glances at Heri, "But we probably shouldn't teach you if your teachers haven't taught you yet. We weren't allowed to learn until we were th- twelve."
"Eighteen - if that seems like a lot, your world might have different year lengths than ours, or we might grow at different speeds," he adds.
"Aw, really? We can trade for it! We've got... magic plants and glowing and heating and cooling crystals..." He sighs, "I guess it's not a lot compared to crystal magic."
"We're going to learn it eventually, Mika," Sefoni points out.
...Also, she really wishes he'd stop offering people their plants.
Heri seizes the opportunity. "It's not, but tells us more of what your magic plants can do? Could they help find people? Or hide people?"
