"There's good money in it!"

"But I assume it also cost quite a lot of money to build in the first place? And took a long time?"

"Yes, there's like, a series of investment steps as it becomes clearer how to get more return out of various kinds of infrastructure, I guess."

"Would it be possible for you to elaborate?"

"Well, I don't know specifically about any given industry. In very general terms, like, you can land an airplane in a field. It's not ideal but you can do it, so once the airplane was invented for all I know that was standard, pick out a field on each end of the trip. But if you pick the same field over and over again, maybe you also want a hangar to park the airplane in overnight. A place to store... spare airplane parts. A refueling station. People will be coming and going from the field all the time to administer all of this and because they just got off of or are about to board an airplane, somebody might - build a hot dog stand or something. Eventually you might pave the field so you don't have to cancel flights when it's muddy. I don't know that anything like this story actually happened but I don't know that there aren't airports that started that way to begin with. And then once the concept of having an airport clearly works, you can convince somebody who has some millions of dollars that they'd like to build an airport with it and collect revenue from the airport, instead of sticking their money in a bank account."

"-how fast did all that happen? Or something similar to it, I suppose."

"The airplane was first invented in... I don't remember. Before World War I. Early 1900s or maybe late 1800s."

"That's... two hundred or three hundred years before your time?"

"Closer to one hundred."

"Were the non-airplane parts of airports new?"

"Uh... I don't know. I'm pretty sure trains are older than planes but I don't know how old, like, conveyor belts are, or... the kind of pavement they use on runways..."

Nod.

"I really hope we find a way to your world so my world can have these inventions within my lifetime. And also so I can learn how airplane scheduling is done."

"I'm not sure who you'd need to talk to to find out but I'm sure someone would be happy to tell you. Do you have a ballpark estimate of how long it will take you to finish getting dressed."

"-oh, I apologize, I became distracted, it should only be a moment longer."

"Sorry."

"It's my fault I - skirts are here I think - yes -  "  oh good there's one that doesn't have an insane number of buttons "-one moment longer-"

"Okay. Sorry. I know this is annoying."

"I don't find it so." And one last bit tightened...

"I'm. um. dressed."

Haru pulls off the blindfold and turns around and holds out his hands.

Hand holding!

OH that's so much better. "Thank you. Is this the right place to sit through the rest of this or should we go somewhere else."

... Oh he made a face.

"Um. My sitting room would probably be preferable?"

"Do we have to not hold hands on the way there?"

"No, it's right through here."

Then he'll follow where she leads. "Do you have more airplane questions or anything?"
