[o-] owwww ohgod.... [-kay].

Lucien doesn't so much decide to curl up into a fetal position as notice he's been like that for some time already.

The pincers allow him that much movement.

Eventually the cactus moves on.

It takes him a while to pull himself together.

[Isabella, I'm bleeding. Quite a lot.]

[Once Haru or the other dungeoneers find you Lifeline'll pull you straight into the hospital, and they'll get you some blood and patch you up. Dungeons hardly ever kill people like that, you're going to be okay.]

Lucien nods, which is both pointless and makes him want to vomit.

[You told them I'm here?]

[Yes, of course I did, pet.]

[Do they know which dungeon it is?]

[It doesn't have a name. It's got a number, 3081202.]

[Do they know if it hurts people other than when it first takes them.]

[...the entry I'm looking at says it interferes with memory retention. So - yes but it won't seem like it.]

[...does it actually hurt people immediately when they enter.]

[The monsters come and go, the sand's all the time.]

[Okay.]

[...is it better if I don't know what the monsters are?]

[I don't know. Do you have a guess? I can try reminding you or not reminding you.]

[If I knew I could use my eidetic memory catalog to remember a pointer between some concept like "current dungeon" to the relevant information but I guess that's not actually that useful... sorry. I. Thinking is hard, it hurts.]

[I know. I'm sorry. Hold on. They'll find you soon.]

[Yes ma'am.] Because that's easier than needing to think for himself right now.

She'll repeat it, at intervals, as needed.

He contacts her every fifteen minutes or so, with the exception of times when he's too full of fear and pain to think of reaching out to her.

Eventually that's all the time.

Without any particular reason to think that this is a considered decision on this part which makes the dungeon more tolerable she speaks into his mind more than that. They're coming. They'll be there any minute. He's going to be fine. She's waiting for him and he just needs to hold on. They're coming -

- they're here.

Tap tap.

He really shouldn't be conscious, but somehow the scorching wind kept him awake.

She's in the hospital waiting room but they rush him past to get the sand out out of his wounds without stopping to alert her. She's on Keep Haru Company duty, since she's telepathic and having company would have slowed him down even if they didn't wait for someone who could shield other espers; she's stuffing trail mix into her face. Lucien was the twelfth rescue of an estimated forty-four.

Well, she'll find out in a few minutes when Lucien telepathies her.

[Am I in a hospital themed dungeon?]

[...no, you're in the actual hospital, Lifeline pulled you out of the desert dungeon.]
