The door opens. "Oh, hey, it's the interdimensional visitor and some kinda royalty."

"Isabella, this is my sister Tyelcormë. Turka, this is Isabella."

"Pleased to meet you. How much has news of my interdimensional visitorhood circulated?"

"Hasn't at all, I cheated and asked Huan, and Huan was like 'that's a different species and from a different world' and then I verified that with Nelya."

"Who's Huan?"

She steps back from the door to make it apparent that at her shoulder is a giant wolfhound. "Huan is a Maia who prefers to take the form of a dog. My dog. She doesn't talk except to me."

Well. Of lifestyle choices that certainly is one. "I see. Does she also prefer not to be spoken to directly?"

"Nah, you can totally talk to her, but she'll probably get frustrated if that turns into conversation-with-Tyelcormë-interpreter, if she wanted to have conversations she wouldn't be a dog."

"Fair enough. Hi, Huan."

Huan chuffs at her agreeably and moves out of the way of the door so they can go in.

In they go. What a pretty house. "Anyway, my species is called humans and my world is called Earth."

"And how'd you get here?"

"I was participating in an investigation of a portal. It was known to be a portal, but it was different from the other ones that have been found in several ways; a regular portal would have been traversible only by a mage or a subset of mages, and would have been possible to use in either direction pretty straightforwardly, and would have brought me to another planet in my home world which I tentatively suspect this is not. I tripped."

"Well, not the worst place to trip into, at least we can probably send you home. Humans, huh? You look a fair bit like us."

"Yeah, that surprised me. The other planets that have been visited by portal didn't have sapient life but they had life and it was very different from Earth's. Between Elves and what I've seen of the plants and animals this is eerily similar."

Huan chuffs. 

"...this world's supposed to have humans eventually, apparently."

"...that's weirder."

"Everything about the divine plan is super fucking weird."

"And it sounds like the available information on it is much less useful than my world's version of precognition."

"Your world has actually useful precognition?"

"Yeah. I can do a little over an hour."

"I would so so abuse that to exorcise my occasional intense desire to be ridiculously rude to people."

"I suppose it would work for that. I avoid being in the habit."

"Maybe there are fewer humans who merit it." Inside! Here is a very pretty dining room. "Nelya deigned to grace us with her presence, everybody come eat," she says to the empty room.
