"Depends on the mage or psion. A young or lazy eclipsed might not know how to do anything particularly dangerous."

"Best case scenario if some human murders someone in Valinor is that the Valar expel them and put the victim back. Other possibilities include 'the Valar kill them' 'the Valar expel all humans and close the portal' and 'the Valar change their brain so they won't do that kind of thing'."

"- humans have self-defense exceptions, will that fly here?"

"In ...principle, yes, but it is very unlikely an Elf would try to kill a human."

"It's less unlikely that a human would think that was happening, though, if there was some kind of misunderstanding."

"I should probably give my people instructions that will avert misunderstandings." I can also ask people to claim a misunderstanding occurred when none did, if the Valar look disastrously inclined, but that's riskier.

...Are we being supervised?

No, but Elves have good hearing.

Noted. How good?

It's harder in a city where there's a lot of background noise, but out in the wilderness if I were trying to hear a specific conversation I could probably hear it - not as far out as I could see the people, but more than ten miles out, certainly -

Wow. Okay.

I can bounce you my senses -

You can? Sure.

...wow. The ears are actually a little much, the vision is just plain amazing.

A lot of people leave those open to the public, for impaired friends or just in case anyone wants to see. You can always try and borrow someone's senses.

That's a very friendly convention!

When we arrived in Valinor there were a lot of people blind or deaf because of the war. I think they've all been fixed by now but at first the Valar weren't good at healing, so we had other accommodations.

...gods with learning curves, huh.

For anything biological they have to know what they're doing to a pretty astonishing degree of precision.

I bet there's stuff mages are better at than them, then.

Oh, certainly. They're not even smarter than us, except having a few hundred times the attentional capacity.

...heh. So some of the really old psions are probably smarter than them.

Probably. For all the good it'd do them in trying to bring the Valar around on anything.

The Valar sound extremely frustrating.
