"Um. Elaborate on that, please? What effects does it have for souls to be bonded? How is the person chosen?"

"Feel each other's emotions, sense if they are in danger before they do, hug each other for fast mana charge, cannot get more than a little pouty at each other. Once a year you make half a heart and they make the other half for a very overpowered line attack or healing beam, as the situation calls for. Person will either have also chosen this magic, or... naturally awaken and get it by accident, but then they will still soulbond somebody, harms nothing for it to be you if you want this sort of thing in your life. I think some gods take interests in pairing people off?"

"Um. Well. Yes I want this sort of thing in my life, holy crap."

(That's about the strongest swear Alyssa is willing to use.)

"...but I suppose it would be responsible to ask if there's any sort of personality filtering. Like, is there anything stopping me from getting matched up to someone who kicks puppies and thereby nudged in a more puppy-kicking direction?"

(She'd be a total liar if she said there isn't any appeal to the idea of her nudging someone in a less puppy-kicking direction, but the part of her that wants that doesn't get decision-making power.)
