His premature attempt at getting feedback on his constitution draft apparently (and unfortunately) attracts more attention than he meant it to and it seems his committee get more input from the nobility as result.  The go back and forth on various points of the constitution: it seems more sortitions in future conventions is an unpopular idea among commoners and nobility alike, but Fernando fights for the position of the Queen and the Church of Iomedae.  It's not like he particularly trusts or likes either Church or Crown that much, but he likes them far more than the nobility, especially the Taldor immigrants and holdovers.

The convention drags on.  Not that Fernando minds, given the generosity of the stipend.  There is a few more major controversies and scandals, a lot more minor ones, and many idiotic proposals, thankfully most of which are voted down.  Eventually, after some backdoor negotiations (that Fernando only barely has a hint of knowing about and the most indirect of any influence over through the Archduchess and Delegate Talandria), his committee and several other committess settles on a constitution that is likely to pass.

Overall... it was a financially comfortable few months and compared to the low, low standards of Infernal Cheliax or Taldor Fernando could almost say he's proud of the constitution that gets final approval.

With travel passes abolished, Fernando is kind of at a loss as to where he wants to go and what he wants to do....

The convention did vote on some modest compromise debt relief... which doesn't actually affect Fernando's refinanced loan in silver at all.  The convention (unfortunately?) never voted to reopen the public schools, only a very minimalistic policy of a few government services in their place.  But the Archhealer decides to subsidize schools out of her own pocket and she's offering a wizard school loan repayment scheme to teachers.  He asks a lot of questions and reads over the fine print many times to make sure it would cover his case... but in the end he is satisfied and signs on as a teacher.

For the next decade in life he tries to make steady progress on Goodness.  He sells his healing with only a small and preannounced markup for distance travel and emergencies.  He even offers an "insurance policy" of paying a few coppers periodically in advance for waving the small markup if it does come up.  He even gives away healing a few times to some truly desperate people!  (He only asked these recipients of his generosity to ominously imply he demanded some worse price to stop others from trying to take advantage of him.)  He patiently teaches students with an even hand.  (He hopes holding back when they are being extra bratty or lazy is worth extra Good even if it hurts his Law). He gives a few coins to traveling Good clerics every now and then.  He wants to make Axis with a comfortable margin, maybe even overshoot to Heaven to be on the safe side.

He does make a bit of progress on his spellcraft, fixing a mistake that was limiting his scaffolding and finally pushing up to properly first circle in duration and number of slots.

He thought about his afterlife a lot.  One particularly valuable discovery was learning about Early Judgement, a spell unique to Pharasma's clerics that allows you to see a vision of your (likely) future afterlife based on the current state of your soul.  He's come close to buying an Early Judgement several times, but he figures better to donate the money to a Good causes.  So, over the past decade, he's made three big donations worth the price of a second circle cleric spell in addition to the smaller donations he's made.

He keeps working on new ways to do Good.  On the advice of an Erastilian, he takes a break from teaching for a term to make a journey to his home village to visit his mother so he can try to atone for any wrongs between them... only to find she died some years ago.  He tracks down a brother a few villages over for an awkward conversation that doesn't really go anywhere.  He gives a few coppers to the niece and nephews he meets.

As he gradually and slowly expands his spellbook as he has money to spare, he eventually thinks of an alternative method to check his alignment.  A protection from Law/Good/Evil should deflect his attacks depending on his alignment.  He has a (relatively) trusted acquaintance he is on positive terms enough to ask them to help him try this strategy over the course of a few temperate spring days when he has the spell slots to spare.  The Protection from Law deflects his mock attacks clearly enough.  And thankfully the Protection from Evil doesn't deflect him at all.  But neither does the protection from Good.  An entire decade, living modestly among peasants, healing them at a substantial discount, and teaching their pathetic bratty children and all he's managed is Lawful Neutral?  He wanted a buffer of Goodness just to make sure he doesn't get fucked over in his trial (he doesn't trust the claim he has occasionally read that Nirvana has skilled lawyers, it is intuitively obvious that Devil would be the most natural lawyers of any Outsider).

He needs a new plan.  Andoran adventurers and worldwound crusaders make Good fast right?  Late forties is a bit on the older side to start adventuring, but the Archhealer is still selling reincarnates.  He even held onto the pamphlet she had distributed back around the time before the convention.  He has the money already saved, and his debt is paid off.  He even has enough money to buy passage to Absalom afterwards (he figures a city with a mixed population is best).  First circle is a bit weak for a starting adventurer, but he thinks he is nearly second circle.  He finishes his term as teacher for the season then resigns and leaves towards the next scheduled location for the Archhealer.  He confirms the information in the pamphlet is still true, confirms to the archhealer's assistants repeatedly that he wants the reincarnate, and he mentally prepares himself for a new life.

He reincarnates as a halfing.  And a baby-faced one at that. (Or maybe he lucked into the lower end of the age range reincarnate can give you?)  All-in-all not as bad as it could be, but not as great either.  Cheliax may not have halfling slavery anymore, but he (and he's glad to still be a he) is still happy to be on the boat to Absalom.  The weakening of constitution wasn't as bad as he thought it would be, but his spell duration and strength has taken a hit.  Still, he has an entire new long life ahead.
