It's mildly interesting to the internet that Draak don't come in sideways. Do Draak come in xeno, wonder some of the people with suspiciously thirsty Draak attractiveness rankings.

He doesn't and it sounds pretty unlikely but he can't rule it out.

He thinks Draak have a lower baseline sex drive than Amentans.

It's spring!, protest the southerners.

It's not spring in the north. Outside of autumning some Draak don't even think about sex, some will bother to find someone once every month or two if it's not much effort, and only rare people who everyone else thinks is a bit obsessed will approach 'once every few days'.

Amateur xenologers speculate that this is because Draak don't pairbond and accordingly needn't solidify pairbonds with sex.

The university tour date arrives.

He flies to the place with a little bag of things. What's the campus look like from above?

It's laid out in a spiral; on the outer edges the shape deteriorates, with the auditoriums and libraries and largest dorms surrounding the neatly organized smaller buildings and giving way to the agricultural sections, outdoor engineering testbeds, and other large-footprint things. It has a train stop between the university and the town it abuts.

He wants to snap some pictures but has no way to hold the pocket everything while flying. Maybe he'll make something. But, hey, this place isn't an awful crowded city at all.

He lands at the designated place, wherever it may be.

That would be in the deliveries lot, not far from the train station, where trucks come to bring the university stuff. There's a yellow waiting for him. "Welcome to the University of Aupto!" he says brightly.

Hello! I feel welcomed! It looks nice from the sky and I already like that it's pretty rural. I'm excited for the tour!

"I've got our itinerary all planned out unless there's something you'd like to see first or double check is on my list!"

Besides thinking that if I end up attending I probably don't want a normal dorm room... I have come to realize that actually I don't have any intuition for how Amentan schools work. I can read online reviews of schools and Summary Bank and other things but that doesn't actually give you context and understanding if you start from a cultural context where one-on-one tutoring in specific subjects is the only schooling. So whatever you have planned is probably fine!

"Okay! Usually I do whole tour groups but they thought it'd be better to give you a one on one. So - watch out for the cargo bike, he's gotta get over to the truck there and pick up cafeteria stuff - over this way is our old library building. It used to be a more important part of the campus before computers and everythings got really good, but some people still like to physically browse the legacy collection and it's also where we keep historical hard copies for the departments that use primary sources. There's also some parts that have been gradually turned over to not quite central cases of library - classes in things like sculpture or chemistry provide equipment for coursework, but for independent projects there's a tool library and a glassware library and suchlike. The library is open all day every day, even when classes aren't in session, though then it's all self-checkout and security greys with no librarians. The sculpture out front is a monument to one of the university's founders; there were six and each one has a statue somewhere on campus, we'll hit all six on our tour." Walk walk.

He rears up on two legs to get out of the way of the bike, using the tail to balance, then pads after him.

I made or bought all the sculpting tools I need, but it's neat to provide loaner tools for people who don't have any. Maybe I will decide to do chemistry experiments, after all. I'm pretty interested in the agricultural and outdoor sciences, those seem probably relevant to the future.

"Our next stop is the agriscience building! One of our students won an award for her thesis on gene splicing in rice. She got a job with East Grains to develop it further, they think they'll be able to produce some interesting rice flavors that persist through cooking and improve vitamin availability. Here it is, though of course the fields out back are also part of the classrooms."

I know about genes of course but I suppose classes would tell me more about that? The rice fields seem kind of samey. Do you know if anyone has done experiments with integrated fields? Multiple plants, or plants and insects and animals, that coexist well?

"I think people keep pigs and ducks together for some reason but I'm administrative staff, not a student or faculty. Bees for pollination, there's that. Are you pretty confident you can pass an entrance exam? With some accommodation for jargon and such but of course there's only so much in-the-moment assistance can compensate for not having been to a normal green school."

I know kind of a lot of things but I have absolutely no idea if they're the same things you expect entering greens to know. Certainly no Amentan history. My vocabulary is probably pretty limited. Only thing for that is to try taking an entrance exam, I think.

"You can fail a few subject tests, some people track early and will make great physicists or painters without being able to find Oahk on a map."

Are there sample entrance exams on the internet maybe?

"There are practice tests, yeah, we suggest Proctor Net."

I'll try one of those in a free moment then.

"Here's our theater where the performing arts students put on their shows, and another founder's statue. There are other stages on campus but this is the big one."

Actually I am uninterested in shows and theaters. Some dance and motion is beautiful but that's not what I want here. The statue is neat, though.

"Okay, uh, do you want to look at my itinerary and note anything else you'd rather skip?"
