Giggle. "What about your family, can you boss those? The forest bugs?"

"I think my parents would object if I tried to boss them around! That's not the direction these things usually go! My brother would give me such an unimpressed look if I tried. There's a sister in the soul garden that I could probably get away with it with..."

"Which worlds is she from?"

"The one where I was eaten by an angry god...the one with the weird demonish politics...I think a friend I made in the timeline that unhappened was her but we weren't related there...one of the ones with magical girls, not the one with witches...the one where koizumr comes from...I'm pretty sure there's some more besides that but those are the ones I'm immediately thinking of."

"How many worlds did somebody need to be from to get a spot in the basement instead of the garden?"

"Brain manual doesn't have that information, sorry."

"Huh, and you can't approximate it by how many worlds the most common garden person is compared to the least common basement one?"

"I could maybe do that if I went around the garden trying to figure out how many worlds everyone is from but I have not at this time done that." 

"Legit, you kind of chased right after me after I stole a couple. Who'd I have?"

"Araith--there's only one of her, from the timeline that didn't happen--I actually have several people who only existed in the timeline that didn't happen, I think sort of in an attempt to rescue them because they wouldn't exist in the timeline that replaced it--and, uh, let's call her Ella, several of her, tends to be pretty colorful. Araith's the blue one and Ella's the pinkish one."

"Colorful in a pinkish way?"

"Sometimes! Like, she tends to be species that have coloration different from a human's, if they're available, and sometimes that means pink hair and occasionally that means pink skin but that's on the low end of weirdness." 

"What's the high end?"

"Hmmmmm, probably the one where her skin was all shiny and sort of silvery with rainbows?"

"Sounds pretty!"

"She's generally pretty, yeah. I should see how I am at drawing, depict some things I absolutely do not have photographs of."

"You'd have to do it longhand? No illusions that might work with cameras?"

"I--ah. Hmmm. Yeah, no, I can do that."

"We shall have to do a series of photoshoots. I have a really nice phone camera, which is not as fancy as a nice non-phone camera but much more portable."

"Ooh, phones have cameras now?"

"They do! It has basically killed the low-end dedicated camera market except for, like, instant ones that print out a physical photo then and there, there's still use cases for that."

“Makes sense. You can’t do computer stuff to those.”

"You can't! And they're bigger and most people aren't sophisticated enough photographers to get much out of any features you need the bulk for."

"Oh, I meant, it makes sense that instant-picture film cameras survived, because you can't say a film picture is photoshopped if someone shows it to you."

"It is at least significantly harder, but like it could still be staged like the fairies that fooled Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or something."
