A dark space, lit with eerie green light. In front, four hovering pictures. Soft, instrumental music.
And two women, unconscious, in front of them.
Anders' jaw tightens, but he holds back on saying anything on that matter.
"All right, so you know the theory. Healing magic requires you to open yourself to someone else, to understand their body. It's a strange thing, but you do get used to it."
His hands glow blue as he holds them above Tabs' foot. "Seems to be just some bruising, a little jarred. Here, you try."
She follows his example and reaches out with that strange new appendage-like feeling - magic. Her hands light up in a soft purple, nearly blue colour. Lavender, maybe.
"Good. Reach out with it, beyond your body. Find where the pain is, and where to unravel it."
She closes her eyes and does as he instructs. Reaching out to Tabs with her magic and searching for her pain.
It's... surprisingly easy and weirdly a familiar feeling. She finds the source and reaches out to it with her magic. Once she's done that the next step is obvious. Her magic nearly does it automatically, so she lets it. Easing the hurt and - unravelling it. Huh.
Anders keeps his own magic handy, monitoring her, but has a small smile. "She is. All that theory was good for something."
Tabs lifts her foot, flexes and points it, and then uses her freshly healed toe to boop Anya's nose. "Yeah, I think it's back to normal. Unless you guys put some kind of magic power in it?"
She bats the foot away and sits on it.
"Could make up a dancing spell and finally you'll have some grace."
Anders laughs, but then he starts peering at Tabs, confused and curious.
Tabs shifts uncomfortably under the look. "Something on my face? Apart from the vines?"
"No, no, it's just- I haven't met a Dalish elf like you before. You're so at ease around humans."
"No, nothing like that. I'm sorry, I seem to keep being rude without meaning to."
Anders seems a little startled, but goes with it. "Oh, not long. Six months or so. Came to-" He stops, looks, away, and his shoulders tremble a bit. "Came to help a friend, and after that I didn't really have a plan. Hawke is helping me figure that out. Or he's trying to make me come on his ridiculous expedition."
"They mentioned a little about it last night. You don't like the deep roads? Seems to be a sensible preference."
Tabs tucks her chin over her bent knees, wishing she could say something about Karl to Anders.
But not only would that be completely stupid, there’s no reason she would know about it.
So instead she commits to not picking a fight with him again. At least for now.
