How she became lost is a mystery, this town is so small. But all the alleyways look the same and appear to be spawning or cloning themselves. She swears she's been down this one before... twice, maybe. Her new foster mom is going to be so pissed off about how late she is.
"Different type of supergirl. I'm probably part demon."
"Father didn't exactly stick around, and my mom's not around to question."
"Know the feeling. Sucks, right?"
"Yeah. Overhaul the foster system, one of many items on my list. I'd say it's run by demons, but I've met humans."
"You have a list?"
"Lists are good for keeping on track." And for keeping Jessica away from her disaster tendencies. Abandoning the plan she made to go fist-fight a demon is a lot easier with a teenager's energy.
Cute. "I suppose. I'm more of a fly by the seat of my pants kinda girl."
"That's easier with young knees."
"You seem pretty fit to me."
"I do work out," she says, companionably. "Could probably bench press you."
"Sounds like fun." She gives her a moment, then; "I should probably head home though. Dawnie will be waiting for me. She gets stressed if I'm out too late."
"Sensible. Good luck."
"And I'll see you - when?"
She gives a place and time - late on the coming Friday.
"I'll be there will bells on. Probably. Do demons like bells?"
"Some; they'll startle a few others. For now we're just sparring, though. I won't throw you headlong at demons just yet."
"I guess you can keep me waiting." She bounces on her feet a little and then waves. "My name is Sara, by the way. I'll be seeing you."
"I'm Jessica. See you around."
She runs out of the alley. Maybe a little too quickly. She really doesn't want to be beat up again.
Dawn waits for her at home, arms crossed and frowning.
"Took a shitty shortcut and got jumped by this hot older woman who told me I have super powers."
"Not funny. You're lucky Foster Mom isn't back yet. She would have reported you for sure."
"I don't mind roughing it for a few weeks. Not like I haven't done it before."
"I don't want to end up on the streets. It's not just you being affected."
