She shrugs.

"A Slayer and her Watcher, coming to stop the prophecy," he says. "But it is not your time. You will fail, here. You cannot succeed."

So Eva nods her head in the direction of the opening, indicating she thinks she's going to go be recklessly heroic.

Norma raises a hand in a 'wait' gesture.

"Go home, Slayer. You will not die today, but neither will I."

She rolls her eyes, trying to act calm.

He does not say anything more.

Norma?

Is frowning.

"I am not certain he is wrong."

Eva pauses and then asks, "Hey, dude, why do you want an apocalypse?"

He laughs. "The human race is... weak. You've survived this long on luck, but these millennia are but the blink of an eye to the truly powerful. You will perish, flashing like the short-lived fire you are. It is merely a matter of time."

"Okay. So why apocalypse and not, I dunno, wait for us to die out?"

"The way you will die out is an apocalypse. The door to the ancient ones needs to be opened."

"… Is this a prophecy or what?"

He sighs. "I grow weary of your ignorance, Slayer. Begone, or try to do what you have come to try. Either way, stop wasting my time."

They should probably leave then. Unless Norma disagrees.

Well, yes, since the Anointed One doesn't seem to be around... and neither do any other vampires.

Eva tries to remember the way back.

And assuming they don't meet any vampires en route they'll be out at the mausoleum in… some time.

Well it's convenient that they both have stakes then.

"… That did not really go according to plan."

"Hmm, I'm not so sure. The other vampires were not there and they will probably be unable to enter through the mausoleum, and the crosses around town will make their possible paths restricted... So you can still intercept them."

"Maybe I should try marking paths to the school, seeing if I can circle it off?" Pause. "Well, if they all have tunnel entrances like here that won't do much, but still."

"No, but you are the Slayer, and you could use your vampire detection senses."
