Anders reads from the book, casting happy, knowing glances at his kids. "Primal class comprises the elements: fire, ice, lightning, earth. It is the class that causes the most destruction."
"Hawke, I cannot be left to wrangle the glowing children, I'm far too old for it."
"Hey. It's your rule: when people start glowing, call in the tactical support."
Carver appears behind Talia. "Merrill's crying, and Anders and Fenris are about to murder each other. So glad I came out."
"Maker save me from brothers who think they're comedians. And no-one asked you to come Carver. You elected to when Raeli said there was a problem."
"Are we going to have a nice night, now? Without glowing and shouting?"
"I...am sorry. I will restrain myself."
He directs his apology to Varric, and does not look at Ilska once.
Ilska considers her for a moment (studiously ignoring Fenris), and takes a long drink before anyone can argue.
"Well. As I'm here. Who's dealing?" Talia drops into a seat next to Varric.
Varric grabs the cards and starts shuffling. "Me. If you give them to Rivaini, we'll all end up with nothing but duds."
Raeli laughs, although it's a little strained. "You'd think you'd have learned your lesson on that," she says to Carver, impish.
"There's a reason Talia is my favourite, Henri. And that may be the only time I use either of your names."
"I learn just fine," Carver grumbles, and the words sound like 'can't even make a bloody joke'.
"Someone in this family has to have a head on their shoulders," Beth chimes in, rolling her eyes.
