"...right. Those were werewolves."

"Wasn't certain about that, thought there might be another creature that was variously furry kinda humanoid."

"There might be. I've never heard of werecoyotes before, those probably can't be that different. But I know those were werewolves because I was one of them. I was chasing Boyd, trying to stop him from hurting anyone." 

"… Well, thanks for that." Pause. "Who's Boyd, though, and why was he – you know, around maybe hurting people?"

"Werewolves- most things, probably werecoyotes too- are dangerous if they lose control. The ones who don't learn control are hunted down, or their pack helps them- at least for werewolves, I don't know about the others. He had been learning, but he got abducted, and he was kept in conditions that made it harder for him to control himself by other werewolves, who wanted to draw in Derek. Boyd was his beta, and they knew he wouldn't let it go if he disappeared and came back like this."

"Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's any way I can help with this."

"You don't have to help. I thought you should know what's going on. Do you want to meet Dr. Deaton?"

"I think that'd be a good idea," he nods. "I was just – I mean, if there are people who are going to be terrorizing other people, it'd be preferable if I could help."

"We've got it handled. But thanks. Do you want to see him today?"

"If he's available…"

"Sure. I'll go out ahead, you can follow me."

So he does.

Scott leads the way to a small building near the center of town. 

"..."

He sniffs the air.

"Boyd is still in there. Is it going to be a problem, seeing him? Since he's the one that attacked you?"

"So long as he doesn't try anything I don't expect to retaliate."

"Okay." 

He leads him inside.

The doctor looks up from his patient. 

"Hello. I take it you're the victim of last night's incident?"

His patient lies on the table, saying nothing.

"I'm hoping he kept his claws clean."

"Totally sterile," he drawls. 

"Boyd, stop. Tyler, why don't you and Deaton talk in the waiting room? I'll take over from here."

"Sure."

So they go.

"I bet you have a lot of questions."

"How widespread are these supernatural creatures?"

"I imagine that if you include all of them, they represent about 1% of the population."
