Some well-meaning Authors and Sermonizers have advised those who are Evil and wish to Recover from this state to Fight Demons at the Worldwound, should they be Capable of such a Feat. I do not believe this Advice to be given out of Malice, but it is Deeply Misguided, and shall surely lead men into Damnation.
The Folly of this Advice can easily be seen by Contemplating the matter of Veterans of the Worldwound. If it were Truly the case that one could Atone from Evil by Fighting the Demons of the Worldwound, they ought be Good or Neutral nearly to a Man; yet those of Sufficient Power are nearly always Evil. Furthermore, were it truly Good, the Thrunes would never have Countenanced sending so many of their Subjects to Fight at the Worldwound, and thereby leading their most Powerful Soldiers and Wizards out of Hell. Yet in truth they sent men Gladly to the Worldwound, and promoted their Academies of Wizardry Greatly, for the sake of producing more Worldwound-Wizards.
The truth of the matter is this: Pharasma, being a Strange and Ancient God, does not see Good and Evil as humans do. In truth she Condemns all those who kill another, even when it is Clearly Right. She Condemns those who have committed True Murder, yes, but she Condemns just as Fiercely those who kill Unwanted Infants, Cultists of Abyssal Powers, Convicted Criminals, Marauding Orcs, Attacking Bandits, their own Slaves, or Demons who wish to Destroy the World, though any Right-thinking Man can see that these actions are Righteous or at least not Worthy of Damnation. The Sole Exception is the killing of Undead, which she deems Permissible for two Reasons: firstly because she Despises the Undead and wishes for their Extermination, and secondly because, being Dead Already, they cannot Truly be Killed.
Therefore any man who wishes to Escape Damnation must surely Avoid the Worldwound at all costs. The only men who ought Fight at the Worldwound are those who are so Certain of their Goodness in other respects that they believe they can Overcome her Judgment in this matter, so Certain of their Wickedness that they have nothing to Lose (perhaps out of a wish for Glory, for I see little other reason why such a man would go to the Worldwound), or so Heroic that they are willing to Sacrifice their Eternal Soul to save the World. But those who wish to Redeem themselves of Great Evils should do so in Other Ways which involve No Killing Whatsoever, such as by Donating Money to the Good Churches or the Poor, giving Labor Freely to aid the Victims of the Tarrask's Attack, or caring for the Sick.
