This one took some convincing, but in the end Naima, as usual, was right. A terrified delegate who just wants to go home isn't much use to anybody. 

"If those of you who were chosen by sortition still with to return to your homes at the end of Sarenith, you may do so. New delegates will be chosen from your home region. They, too, must serve for at least a month. Transportation will be provided for you. And if I find that anyone in this room has taken steps to cause any delegate to chose to leave who would not otherwise wish to do so, there will be consequences. Are there any questions?"

Ha!! They got the archmage to back down! Not in a way that reduces the percentage of the convention that is random peasants, tragically, but nonetheless a moral victory. He'll applaud.

The news that the Queen will not blindly sign any decree the convention passes is good news! The Queen reminding them to write the constitition is bad news. She wants Alexeara to have peace and quiet in which to do that.

He listened! She claps.

She's allowed to leave at the end of the month? That's — good, probably? She wants to see her family again, and she definitely doesn't want to get killed. Only, she hasn't heard back from her husband yet about Ot, and she was counting on the stipend to cover the extra mouth, and she doesn't know if she needs to stick around to tell everyone that it's bad for monsters to eat people. Or it could be a test, and if they ask to leave they'll kill her.

Hearing she can go home is such a relief… but if he’s going to give them another chance in another month… she could earn quite a bit of gold staying one more month.  She’s trying not to let greed influence her, but she has a new daughter to take care of.

He actually has been writing a constitution, a proper one, one that will make sure the future law-making conventions legislatures don’t do the blatantly dumb things this convention has done.  He will hopefully get a chance to present it to his committee soon, the Paladin has been dragging out reading though other constitutions and codes of law.

He hopes the convention drags out a few more months, the stipend will put a substantial dent in his remaining debt even if it doesn’t pass any responses to the trickery he was subjected to with loan refinancing.

It’s not as preferable as Delegate Tallandria getting all the sortition votes transferred to her, but she can work with this.  She’ll keep an eye out for new sortitions, especially women, and be more proactive about offering the women cheap housing and winning them over to the common sense faction.

Good. Freedom at the price of another's freedom is less sweet, but it won't be too long before they only have delegates who want to be here--though hopefully they won't be here that long anyway.

The strike worked!!

That makes their priorities for the day significantly more complicated, but hopefully the Queen in her wisdom will accept their recommendations.
