"She's not exactly a stylist, just a teenage girl with a sense of style. What does your magic do?"

"Oh, I'm a speedster, but the last time I used it in the air I crashed, so I'm trying to work up to it kinda."

"Oh, that's interesting! How does it work?"

"...I use it and then I'm faster?"

"Sorry, I'm kind of excessive amounts of a nerd. And my power's metamagic."

"Okay, but that's still all it is."

"It might not have been!"

"If you say so."

"Anyway, I can copy the powers of people in range, and I was wondering if I could copy yours if I could find someone else whose power it might interact interestingly with?"

"Does that do anything to me?"

"No."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I've tried this with friends, nothing happened whatsoever."

"I guess I don't care as long as you don't have to touch me or anything."

"I don't. Thank you."

"No problem."

Okay. Speed. That seems like it might synergize well with some things; now to find something else. 

She looks around for other promising candidates. Is anyone visibly using magic?

Nice, but if there's a way to combine that with speed she can't immediately think of it. 

She picks someone whose outfit she likes and isn't doing something uninterruptible, a ways away from the first one, and repeats her opening line about liking the girl's outfit.

"Thanks. My ground outfit's better though, just heavy."

"Does it have armor?"

"Yup. It's great, I get a workout in just walking to the store."

"I'm a hopeless weedy nerd, I've been settling for flying for exercise."

"I mean, flying's good, but you don't get to peoplewatch much or look in shop windows."
