At the end of all things, there is a waiting room.
It's fairly typical, as these things go. Thin, scratchy carpet. Fish tank with still fish. Old gossip magazines. Incredibly uncomfortable chairs. The low buzz of a television or radio or something somewhere else, words indistinguishable. No windows, no clock, no door, and the receptionist's desk was shuttered.
This one's a bit special, though.
"I bet I'd be a super cool knuckle-knife-thing like we saw in that book that one time."
"I wonder if we could make them. It could be our new project. Though we mightn't have enough time..."
"And we could check the libraries, maybe ask mama if she knows anyone..."
"We're gonna design and craft our own weapons! Perfectly suited to our personalities. Do you know anything about the process? It'd be so much easier if one of us does. I'm thinking you'd do well with a sword or maybe a bow."
He goes a bit quiet. "I haven't used a bow in a while. But I know a little of how they're made. Not much, though."
"Maybe. Might be easier to infuse the weapons with our own chakra, I remember something about that," he says. "Though our reach is going to change as we grow, so any weapons we make now might not work for us later."
"That's interesting. What are the benefits of chakra infused weapons? Do they infect your opponent's own chakra?"
"No. They're easier to use elemental or modified attacks with, and harder for others to use. Some do interesting things if forged well enough - the swords of the Seven Swordsmen all have unique abilities, and some are said to be able to decide their wielder."
"Did they forge the swords themselves, or is there a forgemaster somewhere handing them out?"
"The swords are older than the village, I think. I heard they were forged by an original band of rogue samurai during the Warring States, who joined Kiri as a group."
Maybe they should take Kabuza's sword, Kubikiribōchō, with them after they encounter him. If everything goes the same, that is. They could study it and terrify everyone.
"They sound really cool. Maybe we should study that era, the samurai and their methods. Try and figure out how they did it."
-- she didn't know he was capable of smiling. She's very pleased she was wrong.
"Do you know the copying technique? Naruto is too much of a boss to get it. I can teach you if you don't know it."
He knows it, and can make his own copy of the updated map easily enough. (He mostly even doesn't snip at Naruto when the blond excitedly explains every single marking.)
He flinches and falls back and doesn't try to stab Inazuma but it's really close.
He's clammed up, and moves a bit farther from the probably genjutsu using wolf-dog.
(He doesn't like being touched when he can't brace himself. He doesn't like surprises. He really doesn't like genjutsu.)
