Okay then.

She fills up on mana and lets people know where she's going and hops off to Evil Arda, the long way because she's not going through fucking Materia.

It even looks evil. Well, more grand-scale and more symmetric and more orderly than the other Noldorin cities.

Aesthetic. Hi? It's Boots.

Hi! Come on in, I have lunch and maps and things.

It's just slightly past breakfast in Warp, but maps and things sound great. In she comes.

Warp? Tell me all about it.

High tech and low or no magic depending on whether you count psi powers some species have. Crowded, like Edda. It has a native Bell who is not me; her peal name's T'Mir.

How'd you end up there?

So, I'm considering trying to coax people into ceasing to call your world Evil Arda, because my world, qua world, is in fact evil, and here is something else. Materia prohibits science! And hubris! On the level of the universe itself! I got into an Arda by magical accident and then the Valar kicked me out and then my Fëanáro - who is twelve - rescued me and we ran off to Warp instead.

That's kind of adorable. Prohibits science? And hubris?

Somebody once tried an experiment to see how fast various objects fell. There's a few miles around where they did that where down isn't. There was a Fëanáro there too. He died young. Three times. They couldn't get him back any more after that.

Well, that's horrifying. I'm glad you made it out. Twice.

Me too.

How can I help you?

So it turns out that Bells in Materia don't die young, we've got more self-preservation instinct and we're capable of shrinking to fit. I have powers called 'subtle arts' which in Materia are a prerequisite to working as a therapist, which I did. The possibility was floated that I could figure out what's up with people here. Maybe fix it. Particularly if the Valar did it; I used to work with some reembodied patients...

The Valar did a lot of tampering but it was all at least four hundred years ago; it's not really similar to undoing it immediately after it was inflicted, or, at least, I wouldn't expect it to be.

It's possible. I certainly can't make any guarantees and probably won't be able to even after assessing somebody.

Do you have someone in mind to assess or would you like me to raise the idea with people who might be interested and then point you to them if they are?

I am curious if the Rúmil here is off or if he's one of the exceptions. Mine and I are friends. A Space Fëanáro speculated that you might be up for it yourself. But I abide by pretty strict standards of consent and this isn't especially time-sensitive so if that doesn't pan out and if you're willing to find people who might be interested that would be great.

You're welcome to meet Rúmil. He sends a location. I would be curious if my head has been tampered with but would not want to be the first one to have tampering from five centuries ago removed, not when we don't have any idea what that does.

That is reasonable. I don't even know if there is any, of course.

You can check without tampering?

Yes, I can do read-only.

That you're welcome to do.

Is there anything I particularly need to avoid looking at? Even if you don't want to tell me what it is, I can signpost it without looking and avoid it after that.
